Hi everyone.

Just recently purchased this game and loving it, and also got into the custom livery side too.

One query I have is that I made a livery for my AMG SLS GT3 and a friend of mine was able to see it and I was able to see the 1 I made for him (Wednesday & Thursday last week) now when we was playing last night all we could see was a greyed out car with the wire frame!

Does anyone have a suggestion for this, is it a bug or even how to fix it?

Any help is much appreciated.

Hi Andy,. I have had no issue with the Custom Liveries for the AMG GT3.

If it was working, there is no reason why it shouldn't work now as there has been no update to the game since then, however it is odd that it doesn't work for the 2 of you.

Do you have an issue seeing any other Custom Cars?? you could download one from the forums for a different car and see if you can see that.

You could also backup the livery you created, and try just saving the template as a DDS and see if you get the very basic blue with wireframe visible on the AMG GT3.

Yeah, we have had an issue with the Toyota 86 rocket bunny too as we have camo on those and each others cars are still the grey colour with the wireframe issue again, when using standard game liveries, everything is ok. I can see my liver fine, I just cant see his.

Granted I know that the livery I am creating is a WIP and I keep saving and overwriting the .DDS file in the custom liveries folder or maybe there has been an error with the nVidia save when saving as.DDS or maybe i'm just not doing something correct lol as I've not used photoshop in such a long time.


If i replace the .DDS file that I have (after backing it up) just replace it with the standard livery download from the forum (ones with blue background) and load those when were both online and if we are able to see them then theoretically we should be able to load our custom liveries back in and everything should be ok??? but again that is in theory lol.

just been racin g with my friend and even a livery downloaded from the site/another member is still in grey with wireframe

Make sure your livery is named "_LIVERY_PLAYER.dds" on your machine and "_LIVERY_AI.dds" on his machine and vice-versa.

Thank you Reiche, that seem to do it, we can now officially see each others cars online.

we just needed to amend the AI part of the file

I'm happy I could help.

Unfortunately (to my knowledge) it isn't stated officially in the forums. I'm not even sure if it was intended to work like that, but it's a nice workaround for exactly two players racing against each other.

This won't work for three or more players on a server, as you can only assign one single ..._LIVERY_AI.dds, but thanks to Crow's tool there's now even a way to do that (for more detail look here (http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?44730-Custom-Liveries-Tool-Livery-Manager-and-Livery-Package-Export); plus the benefits of adding liveries to any car in game, even those who have no Custom Livery option by default due to licensing reasons).
