View Full Version : Make a wish - Project CARS 2
I don't know if this has been talked about before, but I would like to see Keyboard shortcuts and or button assignments for ALL options and adjustments in the game. These should be able to be changed during game play.
This would allow players who use VR to be able to rid themselves of having to use a Keyboard to make changes during a race. One of the most important would be FFB changes on the fly. I have a Fanatec wheel, two button boxes, and Joytokey software that I could use to fill up quickly with adjustments that I want at my fingertips to change while driving.

more a bug fix, but with PC , Windows 10, if my fanatec is plugged into a different usb port the game setup thinks it is a new controller, and I have to reset all the consignments again. it numbers them according to the usb port number.
daft! I have to make sure it is in the same usb port to avoid this.

one way to fix that is by usb port hub
then you have plenty of usb ports with out having to switch the usb chords around and if you get one that has individual power switches all the better these are the ones i have

FWIW, I use a powered USB hub with on/off switches. However, I think many people are removing their wheel to move it out of the way, where as I'm just shutting the wheel down so it doesn't interfere with gamepad games which cannot function with multiple controllers connected (look at you Unity engine).

Not pCars related imo. It is the same in all the sims I use.
Even plugging a button box into another USB port results in not recognised controls.

Correct, games don't look at device names but device numbers assigned by Windows. If you unplug en re-plug a controller, especially into a different USB socket, it will most likely get a new device number and hence the game will treat it as a new controller.

At this point, just one wish; that the AI can handle multi-class racing feasibly. The Twitch steam today didn't give me much hope, during the COTA demo.

I almost do the same. Since my hub dioesn't have a switch, i just leave that one port only for my wheel. Works great also.

Some sims are fine because they use a more robust method. I only have this problem in Assetto Corsa & a flight sim. I really hope its not in pcars 2 as its a constant pita in AC.

He's driving a P2 car and overtaking GT cars, but there is another P2 car that he flies past that, to me, looks like it's stuck behind a GT car unable to overtake.
I'd love to see a video where a pack of P cars approaches a pack of GTs to lap them. I'd very very surprised if they nail this element of AI - AC and R3E have made huge progress but still struggle a little.

Hopefully that was a function of setting AI agression and skill levels too low

I'd like to see the ability to adjust the mirrors whilst sitting in the car... with keystrokes for that.

Funny !
But about your earlier post, I raced pCars on PS4 before I switched to PC.
There were career races where all AI finished, on console as well as on PC, but there were also a lot of them where several AI retired. I remember a race at Sonoma where half the field retired (don't know the reason) in the first half hour...

For graphics and cockpitview and cars and circuits, i give Project Cars 100% the best game! But they do more efford for background people or trees or other stuff you don't need, instate of focus on real life situations, like retired, engine blow of AI cars aswell, crashes between 2 AI cars, .... that makes it more real, then everything is only by you.

See, that's where people differ.
I think high attention to detail is really needed, background, people, trees, flags, sounds etc... help improving immersion.
We are 2017, no need for a sim that looks like it is made 10 years back, or that is missing detailed scenery.
I for one don't like driving on tracks with trees or people that look like cardboard cutouts, or tracks that look lifeless.
Btw: AI retiring, crashing was already happening in pCars 1 and it is even improved in pCars 2 (did you miss all the nice videos here ?).

All I can see is you having a go at pcars1...I thought this section of the forum was for pcars2? no one knows what the game is like for sure. The info we have is based on videos which makes things look promising. we'll have to wait and see.

If people don't have to tell anything and wait and see, why is there a forum? If you can't say whats on your mind and hopefuly will change in Project Cars 2???????? Oh i forgot, it is here only possitive news ???????

One of my biggest wishes is that they don't overdo it with the dynamic weather in the single-player career mode.
Project CARS was almost laughable, especially for some of the invitational events. The organizers of a 6-lap race aren't going to start that race when there's rain 4 minutes away. Depending on the cars and drivers involved, they'll either start it early or wait out the rain to get it done in the dry, or do it completely in the wet. Yes, there's a unique challenge when you have to run a few laps in the wet in slicks, or deal with melting rain tyres in the dry, but it doesn't jive with how a real event would be handled.
My fear is that, in an effort to show off LiveTrack 3.0, there's going to be way too much dynamic weather that doesn't make any sense in the context of the event.

You're complaining of lack of AI retirement: are you expecting half the field to knock itself out and hand you podiums in 12 lap races?
How many AI retirements have you seen in races longer than 2 hours, in career or other modes in pc1?
How any retirements and mayhem do you expect to see? If AI often crash into each other as you expect, what would you say if they are also crashing into you?
Don't even bother.
AI retirement and failures will be limited. Your wish will not be granted due to reasons I won't waste my time explaining.

Offcourse i don't want to retire ALL ai cars so i win in 12 laps !!! Thats a STUPID story you tell !!!!!!!!

This is a good point. While I don't mind rain and changing conditions, and perhaps too much of it, what I don't want to see in career mode is extreme conditions. Extreme conditions like thunderstorms, heavy fog etc. should be left for QRW/multiplayer sessions looking to experiment with madness. Can't tell you how much I loathed that LMP900 race at Ruapuna. I suppose we can be grateful it was just an invitational, but still. Unrealistic racing weather conditions - i.e. conditions that would call for a red flag in the real world - shouldn't exist in career mode.

Will there be a more advanced online filter search? You can for example only choose from short to long sessions where the sessions can vary from 15 min qualifying to 2 hours or more, but You cant know that before You have entered it. And also if You want to join a session where no assists are allowed there is no filter for that. (Sorry for my bad english, my first thread post ever. Looking forward to join a leauge in the near future)

Yellow flags , I'm like a broken record but it's imperative to Motorsport that they are used and if you want to simulate things properly then unfortunately you have to have them .

Edit: amongst others of course...

I haven't seen any in the videos so far to suggest they are present . Until I see it I'm not convinced.

Hmm, color me unconvinced as well. There are also yellow flags in PCARS 1, and in my roughly 3-400 hours of playtime, I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen them. Being in the game is not the same as being properly implemented.
I am not able to test the game but from what i've seen and read there are a lot more incidents (talking about AI) compared to Pcars1 this time and yellows are indeed more present this time around...

I had one last night actually.. I was testing some of the rallycross cars and one of the AI got stuck. Received a yellow flag when coming to that sector..
However, I will say "automated" yellow flags are hard. What I mean is what really determines when a yellow flag should be thrown. It's very subjective in real life so there will likely be situations in sims where a yellow flag might be thrown in real life, but having the parameters in a digital fashion may not work.
