Car count:
189 cars in the base game (September 22nd 2017)
4 cars in the Motorsport Pack (September 22nd 2017)
4 cars in the Japanese Cars Pack (September 22nd 2017)
8 cars in the Fun Pack (December 18th 2017)
205 cars in total in the game as of December 18th 2017.
DLC car pack info:
The Motorsports Pack is only available for Season Pass holders and cannot be purchased separately.
The Japanese Cars Pack is available in the boxed Limited, Collector's and Ultra editions, or in the digital Standard and Deluxe editions of the game.
The Season Pass is included in the boxed Collector's and Ultra editions, or in the digital Deluxe edition of the game.
For more info on the game editions or DLC car packs check out the official Project CARS 2 page (https://www.projectcarsgame.com/buy-now.html?lang=en).
The Fun Pack is the first of four post-launch DLC packs included in the Season Pass.
Manufacturer affinity:
There are 14 car manufacturers for whom you can earn affinity from using their cars, if you earn enough affinity you can do special events for these manufacturers in career mode. These 14 manufacturers are Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Ford, Ginetta, Honda, Lamborghini, McLaren, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan and Porsche.
Car Spreadsheet:
I made a spreadsheet with Google Sheets that has all the available cars in the game and their stats which can be found here (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1y4zEWH3M6BWUhTt7S5KhTeNbrk3_8eRhx3p_qksy1wc/edit?usp=sharing). I added a calculated power to weight ratio per car as well and included a column so you can easily see in which motorsports presets each car can race.
The Car List:
All cars are modeled after real cars except those colored in blue, these are fictional cars or fictionally spec'ed cars. The entire car list can also be found on the official Project CARS website (http://www.projectcarsgame.com/the-cars.html?lang=en) where each car is displayed with a thumbnail picture.

I need to make sure: 2012 model or 2016 (or '17) model? What's the difference between those two?
Anyways, can't wait for Porsche (and Ferrari and Lamborghini as well) to come! Want that 919 hybrid on pCARS 2...
There's a Corvette road car at the very last scene of the trailer.

Ginetta didn't make the cut for ACO's LMP2 manufacturers. Thei4 website has the G57 powered by an LS3.
The Twitter pic has a P3 sticker on it. ACO LMP3 have 420hp Nissan engines. I wonder if lobby host can enforce that hp for G57 to run restricted in both classes.
Or if there is a second G57 with said P3 spec Nissan engine in pc2 :)

I would say, it is the 2016 spec, because it has the facelifted headlights and more/bigger flaps at the front!

GTR is a 2016 as per the NISMO bumpers which are angular under the headlights instead of the older curved style. Also the rear bumper carries over the vents under the lights as well, and the updated lights should be a giveaway.
The Ginetta G57/P2 is technically a LMP3 class car. The G57 was originally designed under the LMP2 regulations but the ACO didn't select Ginetta as one of the four approved constructors, so they had to revamp the design to meet LMP3 regs instead but didn't change the name.

Did anyone see this list on the official website?
I know the list is still a WIP and maybe they will be added with time but I can't help but worry about the absence of Monza and Spa from this picture.
Sorry if this is OT anyway.

G57 confirmed, just not sure which one. Although the Daytona screenshot says P3 on the side. Cause for speculation. I got worried seeing the LS3 powered "track day" G57 on Ginetta's site.

It doesn't make sense to show everything on day 1 (or day 2), especially with at least 7 months to go :)

You're right about that, but why hiding some PC1 tracks from the list?
Doesn't make much sense to reveal tracks that were already there in the old game, does it?
Ok, I know I sound paranoid, I will stop now and keep my fingers crossed :D

This is the wish already granted thread.I meant more local British tracks (like oulton, cadwell etc) that were part of the old touring car championships from the 1997-2000 era, not the cars themselves. Although If you bring those cars I mentioned too, no problem then

Ok, I know I sound paranoid, I will stop now and keep my fingers crossed :DBut that's not as exciting as seeing new tracks is it ;).
I don't know what the final list of tracks will be, so I can't tell you whether or not those 2 particular tracks you mentioned will be in the game. Personally, I've never really clicked with either of them, to race on, but it would be a real pity if they aren't included, they are iconic.

Alright, info updated until here. Added the Corvette and also the link to the Acura twitter post (thanks @jimmyb_84). I will later also go through the GT planet thread since there is some valuable info there too (I already saw a pic of a road going Audi R8 but I want to confirm it's resource first).
I'll do tracks in a separate post. Already have all Project Cars 1 tracks in a very nifty google spreadsheet (http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?49834-breyzipp-s-XBox-One-racing-circuit-info-spreadsheet) so I can work some magic into making a nice overview of which PC1 tracks are already confirmed, which not and which ones are new. :) Thanks @IceShaft for that link to the updated Project CARS mainpage. Totally missed that since I have a direct link to the forums. :)

Careful on that one. The "leaked trailer" showed what looked like the Super Trofeo version which if memory serves is a slightly different spec than a true GT3. Now IF it is in the game, they may have lumped it into the GT3 class for simplicity much like they did with the Ginetta G55 in pCARS1 (not the true GT3 spec, it was a single make series spec).
Here's a link that highlights the differences.

Wishful thinking on my part, I'll admit, but I wonder if these exclusions at the moment are on purpose because some much requested historic goodness may come into play.
I'm amazed to see nearly everything make a return. Other than the two aforementioned tracks, just a couple kart tracks, Sakitto, and Sonoma seem to be the only things missing. I never got on too well with Sonoma myself and I'm hoping, with fingers crossed, to say good riddance to Sakitto.

I will agree with that wholeheartedly.
I will admit, I am biased being a Canadian, however, it cannot be denied that Mosport, Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Tremblant and Trois-Riviers are historically significant, world class tracks that deserve to be in a world class sim. I know everyone wants their "home" track in every game, but I would rather reduce the number of tracks from one country in order to include amazing tracks from another country that I might never get to see otherwise. In other words, 2 or 3 tracks per country but give me a truly global coverage. I am certain that having a more global footprint would increase sales over having a very regional focus.
I would make the same argument for tracks south of me... Where is Mexico, and Brazil, and Argentina? All have fantastic, world class historically significant tracks. None are represented. The only western hemisphere representation in the game right now are tracks in USA. Great tracks, and I would love to see others added, but give me tracks from other countries as well. Let's not forget about the greats.

Yeah the South America & Africa continents (yes they have race tracks there too!) (no I'm not talking about a Jeep Safari between lions and elephants!) are completely missing. I'm from Belgium myself and I'm of course happy to have Spa and Zolder in the game, especially the latter one since PC is the only sim/game I own that includes it while Spa is in about every racing game I have. It's a superb track and IMO one of the best circuits in the world, but it becomes tedious at some point. :P A snowy Spa in PC2 will surely bring some new flavour to the table though. :)
I'm personally a very big fan of unknown tracks. If SMS would get a deal for a licenced Suzuka I would be 100% sure it would make a lot of people happy. But for myself, I already played enough Suzuka in GT5/GT6 and RR3 and I don't even like the track that much. The esses are fun but after that it's just not that much fun for me. If a Japanese location has to make it in my little racing heart pumps a LOT faster for Twin Ring Motegi which I also got to know via the GT series.
In retrospect, the tracks I like the most in PC1 are the ones I didn't even know about before I got the game: BRNO, ZIC, Rouen, Ruapuna are all fantastic locations which I enjoyed a lot. When you say the name of that track I also immediately think about Project CARS. :) For PC2 a handful of oval tracks will already make it in the game since indycar (and probably stockcar, maybe official NASCAR) will be new racing series. I welcome new tracks like Daytona and Indianapolis but in a way I will already have a deja vu feeling for them because of Forza 6. Thankfully Texas isn't in FM6 yet and if all these ovals will have there road cources added as well then I'm sure over time they will blend in with PC2 for me.
The diversity of tracks in PC2 will be great though :
* iconic tracks like Nordschleife, Le Mans, Daytona, Spa, Monza (hopefully), ...
* lesser known tracks yet certainly not lesser fun: BRNO, Ruapuna, ZIC, Zolder, ...
* ovals (Daytona, Indianapolis, Texas, ...)
* fantasy tracks (Mojave) (while not my cup of tea, but I "tolerate" Mojave ;))
* kart tracks
* offroad tracks
* ice track
* point to point stages (Azure coast, Cali highway, parts of Nordschleife if they make it back in)
* historical tracks (hopefully historical Silverstone and Hockenheim return and both Monza and Spa would get their versions as well)
I personally don't care much about the karts, it's just extra fluff. After the novelty of the ice track and the dirt racing wears off I think I will just consider that as fluff too (I hope I'm wrong though :p). I'm not much a fan of ovals and I'm bored to the back of my teeth with the Nordschleife. But what remains is still a couple of dozens great racing tracks for a lot of disciplines I enjoy. Vintage is the name of the game for me but I surely dig modern road cars and race cars as well.

Spa appears on the website here:
236927
You know I still can't help being worried about Spa. Why would they not put it in the frontpage list already? Maybe the build they took that screenshot from simply still includes all PC1 tracks since it's unreleased alpha material? Maybe they are running into troubles with the license for Spa? Which also makes me wonder why the Spa karting circuit in the first game was called Greenwood and moved to Ireland as a country of origin. In PC2 it's again Greenwood. If they got the license for Spa, how come they couldn't get it for the karting circuit? Might be 2 totally different owners, but still. If I owned a karting circuit and a developer like SMS stepped to me to ask to put my karting circuit in a game they could do it for free, that's a huge amount of free marketing there so why not let them do it? And it would be so nice to even put some sim stations up at the location so people could experience their circuit in the real and virtual world.
Could you put the 3 Ginetta in Pcars 1 in a different colour on your list.

I've discovered road cars since getting a wheel. Pcars2 has a big car roster. I'm sure it'll have a fat variety. Unless some of the manufacturers were tight with their licenses.

I've mostly stood on stick shift BMWs. They're all a blast when run manualy! :D The only thing that saddens me is that the Tire of the regular 2002 doesn't seems to mix well with custom car FFB. Well i made a footnote about the Ginetta statement that their entire product line is represented. But I rather not use that as a confirmation that all existing PC1 Ginetta's will be in PC2. For some cars the specs might be changed for a newer season so I want to avoid getting wrong content in the "confirmed" list. And I don't know that good what's going on over at the Ginetta factories. :)

To balance it out I'd like the Red Pig back too. Nothing compares to that car(and it's tyres) in about any sim. And I'm far from a Mercedes fan. I really had to learn my friends to drive that car like they stole it and it helped their laptimes a lot.
But apart from brands, in general I like front engined rear wheel driven cars better than any other configuration, so here's hoping that there are a lot of them on the roster.

Leaked means unofficial. I wouldn't count on anything in that being confirmed. We saw far too many assumptions and accusations of "you promised x" in the first one based on pre release "leaked" and "in progress" images and videos.
Unless it's been officially confirmed by SMS either via officially released images, interviews or comments such as those made by Ian Bell here and over at GT Planet I would consider it a maybe at best.

Not only that, but I think some car manufacturers also don't want to give out too many details about current generation cars. I believe that is very much so the case with LMP1 and which is why we probably won't see any 2017 spec LMP1s in PC2 unless maybe from 2018-2019 on. :)

Thanks, what a beauty! Added it to the list.
I know SMS was very happy with the way they grouped cars into racing series now and I also know that a couple of official racing series are licenced now.
This car raced almost exclusively in the USA (http://www.racingsportscars.com/type/NIssan/GTP%20ZX-T.html) in the GTP section of the IMSA GT series.
I assume the Sauber C9 from PCARS1 will make a return in PCARS2 as well, that was a Group C car that raced mostly in Europe, never in the USA (http://www.racingsportscars.com/type/Sauber/C9.html). Besides for group C races in Europe Nissan had the R88C, R89C, R90C (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_R90C), etc.
Theoretically the Nissan and the Sauber never raced together even though there were championships where both group C and IMSA GTP were allowed (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1989_World_Sportscar_Championship).
Still I would find it extremely unlikely that both cars won't race in the same series in PCARS 2. With only about 40-50 cars "new-to-the-series" added to the game and only 1 group C car in the original game, it's safe to say we aren't going to get enough IMSA GTP and group C cars to seperate them both into different classes.
So for now I will just name the class for these guys "Group C / IMSA GTP".
At last, pre 2000 cars! :D:D:D

This is probably nit-picking but it's not the Le Mans winner, it's the one from the IMSA GT S series racing and winning the 24h of Daytona in 1994.
The Le Mans winning car of the 1994 season had racing number 75 and chassis number 007.
http://hanabi.autoweek.com/sites/default/files/styles/gen-1200-675/public/1994_Le_Mans_Team_0.jpg?itok=oG_yO6RK
The one from the PCARS Instagram is the one that won the 24h of Daytona the same year, note the small black "Rolex 24" sticker on the side clearly indicating it's from the Rolex 24h of Daytona. It's the one with racing number 76 and chassis number 005.
http://www.racingsportscars.com/chassis/photo/Cunningham%20005.html
(note that our #76 car from the 1994 season also raced in the 1992 season with #75. Just to make things a bit more complicated ;P)
Our car with the correct livery (24h Daytona 1994):

I thought so too. Great selection. Sure we gravitate towards our favourites, but since I got the wheel there hasn't been a car I haven't enjoyed racing.
Except the M3 GT4. Felt dull compared to the Aston and ginetta, but I still enjoyed it and I know many guys prefer it.
Bell answered that question over on GTplanet. Some pc1 won't make it across to p2. But the significant boost in the car list would hardly leave you wanting, considering what's been revealed so far.

I'm pretty sure they mean the Lotus 78 because this was essentially the first ground effect car.
Actually, it could well be the 79.
"Whereas the 78 was a "wing car," Chapman's Lotus 79 is a ground-effect car without the striking wing section side pods of its predecessor. The underside forms a gently shaped "U" profile which is sealed off by sliding side skirts which are much more crucial to the design's effectiveness than were those on the 78."

Hmmmm I'm starting to have doubts if it's not the XJR-12 after all. Hear this :
According to this article (http://autoweek.com/article/auctions/jaguar-xjr-9-once-conquered-daytona-now-auction) it was the 1988 XJR-9 that won the 24h of Daytona in 1988 and in 1990. It was later transformed into XJR-12 specs.
And according to Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaguar_XJR-9) this is how the IMSA GTP Jaguar XJR-9 looked from the back, with straight exhaust pipes :
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e2/JaguarXJR9-61-LRpaddock-89mia.jpg/1920px-JaguarXJR9-61-LRpaddock-89mia.jpg
According to racingsportscars.com (a very accurate reference site) the 1988 winning Jag had straight exhaust pipes as well.
link 1988 : http://www.racingsportscars.com/photo/1988/Daytona-1988-01-31-061b.jpg
In fact if you look up that particular chassis on the same website then you see it was indeed an XJR-9 in the 1988 and 1989 seasons and converted to a XJR-12 spec for the 1990 season. So the same chassis won the 24h of Daytona in 1988 as an XJR-9 and in 1990 as a XJR-12. link : http://www.racingsportscars.com/chassis/photo/TWR-J12C-388.html
My guess is that the XJR-9 spec has the straight exhaust pipes and the XJR-12 spec has the bended exhaust pipes. Either that or else the XJR-9 LM spec which ran in Group C instead of IMSA GTP had the bended exhaust pipes. But then I checked the 1988 Le Mans XJR-9 winner and its the one in the purple Silk Cut livery, not the green Castrol livery.
Anyone who can dig a bit deeper into it?

Yeah indeed. I think it's the 1990 XJR-12 instead of the 1988 XJR-9. It's basically the same chassis but the specs were changed from XJR-9 to XJR-12 for the 1990 season. Will update the topic post accordingly.
Its this one & this is a 9.
https://farm6.static.flickr.com/5641/30809957315_75cdcc7497_b.jpg
edit this is very confusing the above pic does look different at the back & that 12 looks more similar. But in that chris harris video he refers to that car as a xjr9 even though it says xjr12 on the back.
And here it is being sold as a 1988 xjr9
http://autoweek.com/article/auctions/jaguar-xjr-9-once-conquered-daytona-now-auction
On March 14, RM Auctions returns to the Ritz-Carlton at Amelia Island for its Concours d'Elegance auction. With an estimate over $3 million, this 1988 XJR-9 (with XJR-12 specification!) will be among 80 cars for sale. Some of the other cars may have fender skirts, but none will have won Daytona.
breyzipp
20-03-2017, 07:42
Well the one from the video is indeed the XJR-9 that won the 24h of Daytona (in 1988). But it is also the XJR-12 that won the 24h of Daytona in 1990. :) Technically it is nowadays an XJR-12 since the specs of the car were updated for the 1990 season.
I posted evidence that the car had straight exhaust pipes in 1988. And since it currently has curved exhaust pipes (as seen in the video) I assume that has been part of the XJR-12 modifications.
It happened a lot with group C cars that cars were updated between seasons instead of being build from scratch. And that also leads to some very misleading or wrong info on the internet. In that case the chassis number stays the same and is the reference to know what has been going on (check that link in one of my previous posts).
Well, there is that Silk Cut purple and yellow livery, but Silk Cut is a cigarette brand, and cigarette and alcohol advertising doesn't match up with ESRB 'E' and PEGI '3' ratings, so it's pretty much the norm that for games with such ratings they either try to avoid these 'adult stuff' branding or just censor part of the livery while still maintaining the colors...

I wish PCARS2 would be rated R and we would get authentic liveries from the alcohol and tobacco industry because let's face it, racing would have gotten nowhere without these sponsors.
Seeing that Marlboro McLaren Formula One car last year in FM6 without the all-famous Marlboro logo is just so wrong...
hkraft300

There is a ban on tobacco advertising in many countries, and that blanket ban may include liveries in games.
Regardless of an R/adult rating I don't think tobacco company logos will be allowed in car games even on the grounds of historic accuracy/significance.
Suppose they get away with the colour/livery without the company name on it. That's as close as you'd get.

Not sure if IMSA GTS and IMSA GTO will be separate in the game, since they mention the Audi GTO here I would think they are both combined under the "IMSA GT" category. What do you guys think?
I'm guessing GTO and GTS will be the same class as GTS was just the same class being renamed and I'm pretty sure both cars raced each other in the same class unless I am mistaken, though I assume it was an earlier 300ZX

Perhaps. From the 1994 IMSA GT championship page on Wikipedia :
† - The GTO class was combined with the GTS class for Daytona and Sebring.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1994_IMSA_GT_Championship
1994 seems to be the only year they ran GTO and GTS as separate classes, before 1994 it was all GTO and after it was GTS-1 and GTS-2.
I'll change it to "IMSA GT" and add them all there.

GT classes and their history are a nightmare..... Essentially, GTO became GTS which evolved into GT2 which is now GTE..... There was a brief period where GTO and GTS co-existed, but they were very similar classes.

Nope, the link is correct. That's the only article where the Audi is mentioned (and confirmed for PCARS 2).
IMSA GT racing was fiercely competitive in the late 1980s. The 1989 Camel GT Championship season, in particular, was a vintage one. Not only was Nissan going to debut its new twin-turbo 300ZX race car, but Audi was also coming out to play with a brand new machine—the rally-based IMSA GTO (that also comes with Project CARS 2).

Not sure. I would need to see the front of the car to tell if it is the XJ220-S variant.
The TWR inclusion comes from the fact that TWR actually built the cars on Jaguar's behalf.... Joint effort similar to Ford and Multimatic for the current GT, or Asron and Multimaric for the Vulcan.

It's probably a lot faster than the standard xj220.
But the original is just so sexy.
That´s the right word to discribe the XJ220: Sexy!
Looks like a Saab to me
Draken, Viggen or Gripen? :p
(Where is my coat?)
Some WTCC car got announced? I´m kinda lost here since I´m not able to enter in the forum everyday...

I'll be terrible at this type of competition as i'm more a racer than a qualifier. But would be fun.

But back on topic, the confirmed car list is already amazing. As a HUGE Ford fan, I can't wait to get my hands on that Ford GT GTE/GTLM.

I see you're attempting a flying lap, I don't think dragging the rear wing on the grass is very aerodynamically efficient, though.

edit - hmm what the heck, that front bumper and rear spoiler are different. (game screenshot compared to SVA time attack article car)
edit2 - this one looks more like it, still a slightly different livery but most likely same car :
