There's no per-car saving of the FFB settings in pC2, so you'll have to adjust per car if necessary.
each time i join a track with the same car i have to set the force feedback volume of the car? are you saying this?
PS4 and XBox Versions allready work after Pre-Load ;)
It's all pre-loaded on my Xbox but still can't play until release date, which with a time zone switch is in 45 mins Hahah

Car specific FFB multipliers are not adjustable by the user this time around. That's why you'd need to adjust the global FFB volume if you think that a particular car feels too light.
The devs will probably take another look at those multipliers when/if specific cars will be reported for a too light/heavy FFB feel.

Only working for WMD members right now.
In other news, the Project CARS 2 FAQ and Tips thread (http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?51377-READ-FIRST-Project-CARS-2-FAQ-and-Tips) is up now.
Please check this one out before posting any questions you might have.
Adjusting the FFB +/- for each car every time you get in it sounds like it's going to get pretty tedious if there is a big variance between cars.
EDIT: Should have refreshed the page before posting, I hope they can go through and readjust any outliers in FFB strength after release.

You should find that you only need to adjust the FFB for only a few cars.
Also you can adjust the FFB on the fly if you assign buttons to it.

No, that does not work on XB1, They XB1 "knows" in what region its been purchased in and gets locked to that...Sure, have you bought it from Hong Kong store you are safe :)

Damn they've thought of everything, well it was worth a shot

No, if you have adjusted the FFB on-track to feel good for a car, it will take over that setting into the main menu and for that car the FFB will be OK/the same.

The problem with PS4 pre-load is still being looked into.
If you do a multiclass race with 4 different classes, how are they splitted? So how many cars in each class? For example you have a 32 cars grid. Is it 32 / 4 = 8 cars per class?

Yes.
Thank you! That's a clearly answer ;)

Hey.
Just a small feedback from me again. (Version 1.03! with the 12,9 Gb Day-1-Patch)
I still love the game, but I guess people will get quite upset with the missing 'working' setups. There aren't these 'stable' standard Setups implemented on Ps4 yet. Many cars are quite undriveable at the moment. Gearing is wrong (with wrong i mean completely wrong) for about 50% of the Cars i tried. With the Audi GTO i could only use 20 - 30% Brake-Input in Standard-Setup, because the brakes were set totally wrong.
I made one setup up till now. For the Ferrari GTE @ Longbeach. With a working setup the game is absolutely amazing. You can really push the car, feel what it does etc. In the end i got it finally to a 1.17 time.
But whithout all these 'setup-work' it's quite harsh for newbies and more unexperienced drivers.
I know there will be updated setups soon and i hope the people will still enjoy the game up to then.
My FFB got a bit better with the tips you've given me. Thanks!

Stable / Loose and some OEM Setups will follow later on Console. Not sure when, but the will come with the next Patch i assume...

What do you mean with wrong Gearing?

Can you explain what you mean by that? I thought the whole issue of setups had been sorted, and that all platforms would ship with both "loose" (faster but potentially unstable) and "stable" (safe, slightly understeery) setups, available for all cars? Is this not the case?

Yes, most PCARS 1 launch options will work with PCARS 2.

Unfortunately loose and stable setups didn't make it into the D1P on consoles. They'll most likely come with the next update.

There shouldn't be much chaos as long as the game is just as good as it seems.
Problem is the classic bugs that will be making for another ride in pc2. These bugs that lie so deep in the code that, either can not be fixed or the risk of doing doesn't simply pay off. This will upset again so many folks, including me probably.
What I'd do mods, is to open and pin IN CAPITAL LETTERS a thread dedicated exclusively to the workarounds that are possible for pc1 classic bugs that will be there again. Most of these bugs have a workaround (like the wheel rotation/physics mess after switching cars, which workaround is done through just loading a setup after racing), and should be of great use for everyone. Even for old timers

Doing some laps in pc2 now.
Legit excited like a teen girl at a Bieber concert.
Jumped into the Toyota 86 for some laps around Bathurst for my first drive and wow. Car feels great, sideways through skyline with the car telling me exactly what was happening. Amazing.
Tried some laps around Bathurst in a thunderstorm at late afternoon afterwards and my headlights weren't working though, I parked it a short distance away from a wall head on and toggled them on and off but no difference. Had some strange effects a short distance in front of my car though which I'm not exactly sure how to explain.
The lightning reflecting on the wet track surface though. I'm in love :love-struck:.

IIRC, that is per design. The compromise to having the AI lights on in bad weather was to not have the headlights project unless at night. So they light up to be visible but don't project unless at night.

I just took the F50GT for a spin.
Even comparing the McLaren 720 with it, the front end works!

The AI is a little slow on Lap 1 Turn 1. After that, they get going really well (and SMS is already on getting the speed back for Lap 1 Turn 1).
Were do i set the AI strengh on a quick play single player? i didn't see the option.

That's not an option you can change while you are "at the track". You have to disable it from the main menu.

Well that's mildly disappointing. It wasn't possible to keep the players headlights working but have the AI lights use the compromise? Driving around a track alone in pretty dark stormy conditions without illuminating lights really takes a hit to the immersion of it.
Oh well it is what it is. No point getting hung up on it I suppose.
Doing my first race and Cluck is one of the AI, I need to beat him for the sake of pride
Installing the game at the moment but want to say thank you for the awesome collectors edition. Especially the art book is so beautiful. It feels like christmas. Thank you for that.

So again, just like pCars 1 I can't use my surname in career mode. Because the game censur it, because off the ''arse'' part in Larsen. But comeon SMS, its one off the most common surnames in Norway and also very common in Denmark. So how hard is it to add names like that to ''the whitelist'' when it's the same complaint you got from many(or atleast quite a few...) on the last game. Are you really trying to say that names like Larsen will ruin the PEGI 3 rating?...

I don't know where to post this, but what is the reasoning behind not being on the Steam forums? Most players won't join here and probably will get confused when they never receiving a reply, when asking for help, or will this change in the next few days?
Not entirely sure which is the best thread for this but this is very cool

Just booted up the game again after a while due to unfortunate circumstances ;), I wanted to drop by to congratulate SMS on their release version, you guys managed to deliver a game on 3 platforms with mostly minor issues that can be addressed in the next months, which is quite an achievement by itself. Not sure if you noticed but I was quite skeptical that you'd pull it off back in June. But you did.
I was playing with my sim racing buddies this evening, and the following quotes could be retracted from our session;
- This game is what we always wished for what Gran Turismo would turn out to be back in the PS2 days.
- This could be the next gen 'GTR2'
That means something.
I'll drop by again later with some complaints when I delve deeper into the game. Nice job guys!
Cheers,
Tim

How are you guys enjoying the game so far? What was your experience like? For me, I started from Formula Rookie and it was a real struggle. I couldn't control my vehicle right and I constantly spinning out around corners. The new Race Engineer feature really helped me out with that. I still need to practice steering properly when approaching those turns since I use game pad. For Formula Rookie, I decided to choose the long calendar session so that I don't miss any tracks because I wanted to experience them all. Every track I go on, I always screw up, resulting in restarting the race so many freaking times. It was frustrating but I knew it was not the game's fault. I have to keep learning how to maintain control of my car and maybe change a few settings. However, at the end, I did manage to get FR Euro Championship Trophy and earned two accolades(FR U.S. Championship/FR Euro Championship). I also unlocked two Invitational Events(one from Track Special: UK Lightweight Track Challenge & the other from Road: Japanese Street Trophy. I tried those two events but I was having a hard time with them. I will definitely keep trying my best to get in top 3. After that, tomorrow I will move on to Tier 5 Formula C. The main menu UI looks very improve and I just love the way how the Career Mode is set up. To be honest, I do like Project CARS 2, even though I never gotten the chance to play the first game. I just have to keep on practicing until I feel like I have full control of everything.

Keep at it mate sounds like your having a blast and getting use to it all.
I also struggled real bad at the start could not control my McLaren 720S what so ever it was frustrating however after 3-4 hours of game play its becoming a real gem playing this game!
I started off with the Ginnetta Cup with the G40 and won the championship onto season 2 of that cup and hope it lives up to it reputation.

I'm guessing you're playing with authentic assists (the standard option out of the box), maybe you should turn 1 or 2 permanently on until you get a bit more comfortable
Just a note here. I've read through all the pages this morning and see that the "AI first corner pileup" issues mentioned repeatedly. This has been fixed and will be in a futre patch. By fixed I mean more the exception than the norm ;). There's been a bunch of other AI fixes done that I posted elsewhere (also for a future patch). We're constantly working to improve it. So...on the Xbox one console I have started two career modes and in both of them after half of the first lap the lead car (AI or user) was automatically shown one lap down! Talk about blue flags! We must fix this.

If you feel there's no thread that covers your issue/feedback, just create a new one and we mods will sort/manage it.

It's not a bad game, some improvements over PCARS 1, but I noticed a lot of cars has too much grip which shouldn't be the case (and I'm on PC so "loose" is default). Shouldn't be able to full throttle around corners in an Indycar in the snow for example.
I never played this game that much while it was in development, and haven't played it for a few months due to wheel issues. Got a new wheel yesterday and just wanted to say I was pretty surprised how good the game is. I did a race against the AI on SPA earlier in GT3 cars (100% difficulty, 50% aggro) and aside from an issue with the AI being slow on lap 1, the AI was very good. After racing against the AI side by side through multiple corners with no issue, I was able to develop a level of trust with the AI higher than I ever had in PCARS 1.
Also, from trying various cars on various tracks in private testing, they feel great to drive overall. They respond how I expect them too, and the balance of the cars feels really good with the loose setups. Driving the Toyota TS040 hybrid at road america was a very fun experience. The weather effects look very good as well when I tried running in the rain, it's an improvement from the last game. I was also a surprised the first time I hydroplaned and spun out. The puddles of standing water in the rain are definitely something to watch out for. The game seems to run pretty well too. No issues with framerates so far (pretty much always at 144 frames with high-ish settings). I'm looking forward to trying out more things in this game.
Those puddles...they surprised me more than once...

I am the only one who thinks, that only 31 AI in a single Race at Le Mans is a real bummer ? Also only 29 Ai`s selectable for Nürburgring Nordschleife. It really takes the immersion out of a multiclass endurance race. :(
Is there something in the planning to add more ai`s to the single races and is it the same number of ai`s in the higher tiers of the carrer mode ?
I really love the game, but as an endurance fan, this gives me headaches. :(

This is done to reduce performance issues on consoles...so sorry, that won't be changed...
Ford GT street version horsepower rating is incorrect.... 47 hp too low. A minor issue of course but also an easy fix if there is somewhere to post this type of thing so it gets noticed?

Sounds awesome! No.
Project Cars 2 was advertising with the 24h race at Le Mans, four!!! car classes, so than it really makes sense to have only 30 cars on the track, i understand.
So again as PC players we are fu**** up for the consolero players. Why SMS did not have make two versions, one for the consoles and one for PC`s ? I think its not that hard to increase the Ai numbers on the track only for PC.
Or maybe its the new feature for Project Cars 3, just imagine endurance racing with 60 cars on the Nordschleife, wow. Now with realistic grids. Can`t wait!!!!!!

I'm completely with you on that. As one who did 56 car multiclass races on lemans in PCars1, this really hurts.

Will probably be returning the game today. The racing line is unusable. The FFB is vastly different for every car I use. My wheel jerks violently at random times, like when I'm sitting idle on pit road. I've been messing with the settings since last night and have not found something that feels as good as PC1. This game is too much trouble for what its worth, I understand that it requires some tweaking but this is ridiculous, at some point I want to be able to play the game and enjoy it and I can't do that.
It really amazes me how little is being noted about how the games suggested racing line feature just does not flat out work at all. For 75% of my lap on certain tracks it's not visible at all. I'm not familair with some of the tracks on the game so a suggested racing line is a great help and its barley function on this game
in pCars2 the AI is on a more advanced tire model, so it takes up more CPU than in the previous title

Wow, this is pretty bad... SMS has most of the cars now, but not enough AI spots. Reverse situation from PC1. :(
On the Nordschleife I'd have to disagree, though older sims were able to run 200 cars on that track, you also needed hardware beyond what existed at the time of the game's release to be able to do it IIRC. GTR2 was capped due to being a 32-bit app, so if you added some mods into the fray, it'd crash on the loading screen.

Really glad to see that former F1 driver Stefan Johansson is included in the sim. “We did two physics sessions with Stefan Johansson who was a Formula 1 driver in the 1980s, but he’s raced a wide variety of cars from the 1970s to the present day. So we spoke to him about his racing career and understood what cars he raced in what eras. Then we did tests where he drove about seven or eight different cars, all stuff that he’s driven and he gave us a lot of feedback. There were a couple instances where he drove a car and he said, ‘you’ve got this wrong.’ Like the Porsche 962C. He drove it and he said, ‘no this doesn’t feel right. You’ve got caster wrong.’ He said, ‘we ran this amount of degrees caster angle on it. Go back. Fix it.’ So we changed it.”
It's interesting he is part of the timing and scoring in PC2.

strange I've not had that happen to me. (only thing close is losing the mirror, dunno if it's possibly related somehow.)
did you press the hud cycle button? or try pausing the game, then you get the menu option to edit the hud to your hearts content (use light hud if you use the virtual mirror though!)

Hmmmm usually the Steam workshop is for mods but I don't see workshop in the Pcars 2 page . And setups .
I am disappointed with replays in pcars2. Same issues like pcars1. Cannot select a particular replay time with a mouse click? Also no controls on keyboard for quick rewind/forward when GUI is turned off? Need to click on control buttons with a mouse and rewind and wait like we are still using cassettes and it's 90s?

I found this bug on day 1 when I named my driver or when the game introduced me to the tiers selection, I couldn't hear the person speaking. It only shows me the subtitles and everything in the audio settings are at 100%. BTW this is on ps4.

my first impressions are impressive, better handling and FFB than PC1, the engineer helped me out there. graphics 60fps better then PC1.clubsport
main issue I have is PC, Fanatec Clubsport v3 pedals, there is no rumble in the brake pedal, though there is in the acceleration pedal. rumbles tested ok in controller properties, not a pedal physical issue.
Have we lost the ability to jump to our time on a timetrial leaderboard or am I just not seeing it? It seems like a strange decision to remove it because if you aren't in the first few pages of the leaderboard it becomes a massive pain and tbh a deterrent to even use the ghost feature having go through 10+ pages to get to your time to find a similar timed ghost to load up.

The new game (PC2) is pretty amazing!!! However it appears that the headlights are not effective during the day. In PC1 when you turned the headlight on the cars infront of you got lighter, you could see the light beam on objects - even during sunny day. Right now it`s not working in PC2. is it some performance saving feature ? or just a small glitch ? or maybe I messed up my config somehow ?
I would be grateful if you could share your opinion on that :)

It has been disabled during the day time intentionally because of console hardware limitation IIRC.
Why isn't the Time Trial uploading my times? I've set a nummer of world records today but none is uploading to the server?
And no, the times are not selected by the race director

I was getting a similar thing at Imola last night, doing some hotlapping. Turned out, the "lap time deleted" indicator was because I had gone off track toward the latter part of sector 3, which will apparently invalidate the upcoming lap (as well as the one you're currently on, of course). Make sure you have a clean final sector, and you shouldn't be getting those indications after you cross start/finish anymore.

That's not because you Brake Hard, it's because the Game detected a Cut on the latest Sectore before S/F Line. But since the RD is waiting to see if you actual gained time the Invalidation will happen on after the S/F Straight.

in case of accident or failure out of track .. never seen yellow flags
in case of accident or failure out of track .. never seen yellow flags
Maybe that's because it happens off the track?
I've seen them...they are followed by green once the track is free...
When the track cut penalty is issued in the last sector it should also warn that the next lap is invalid, that would solve the confusion.

When you've changed the setup and you want to use that as the default setup on all tracks, is the "all tracks" supposed to be highlighted on that left "Tracks" menu? Because on that menu the selector doesn't move off "Tracks" but what I changed did in fact become the standard setup for all tracks. Or say if you wanted a special LeMans setup how would you do that?

FOr now, we have been sticking pretty much to our own league members for safety sake :)
We have had some open public rooms and for the most part drivers are showing better race craft, but you always find the odd ones that do not like being passed. As soon as you get by them cleanly, they ram you off the road.
Still, so far it seems a much more civilized world than pCARS1 was. I think the safety rating is making people a bit less reckless.
As for the actual functionality, aside from a real weather bug (reported) and an Opponents Name issue on triple screens, the online racing has been good. Butter smooth. JIP lags are still very bad in P2P rooms, but almost nonexistant in DS based rooms.
Overall, very happy with the online experience so far.

Some feedback:
Time trial; leaderboard ability to skip to yourself in the main ranking is missing. Also it would be nice to see the total amount of participants.
Lobby list; search function needed as they are limited to 50 max and some do not appear? Mates of mine (from different continents) had to send me an invite each time for me to be able to join their room.
Virtual mirror not saving (maybe other HUD elements too haven't checked); might be connected to multiple controllers as people have mentioned the HUD does save when confirming on wheel.
Player car in replays; AI seems to sounds ok and believable from trackside cams in replays, but the players car has its own sample which just doesn't sound right. Doppler effect on the players car is not good or realistic neither depending on how far the car is from the camera.
Lag when saving setups, the naming and saving is still a bit confusing and clunky IMO.
AI is a bit too slow in the rain and maybe a bit too fast in quali? I've just started with the Ginetta career and in quali I get destroyed each time whilst in the races I breeze through the field on that same setting. There's not too much to tune or modify on that Ginetta and I suppose the AI should be using the all weather tyre just like me. They are very slow still of the line, I pass half the field before T1 in every race so far on the settings i chose = AI difficulty 85% agression 50%.
Edit; this evening I bumped it up a little to 88% difficulty and 60% aggression for qualifying and all of a sudden I had an easy pole at Donington whereas in the previous sessions I ended up dead last on the grid and almost 2 seconds of pole with 85/50. Might be down to circuit knowledge or me tuning the car in the meantime, but it seems the AI pace differs a lot from event to event and from session to session too. Known issue I suppose as I heard Doug will be making it his fulltime job to balance them out over the next months.
Have had some wheel bugs again and a mate of mine reported the same on his wheel (different one), wheel starts to auto turn when starting up a session sometimes and you need to restart or head out and go back to the pits for it to stop. I thought it might have been related to the menu spring which auto turns it back after a session, so I put it on 0 but the problem repeated itself when I loaded the same combo again afterwards.

I'm not totally happy with Pcars2. I wasn't overly happy with pcars1 either when it first come out.
I have just read through my post history and I wrote a post 6 months after release (nearly 2 years ago) about how much I trust the devs after they fixed so many issues over that time and their dedication to their game and community. I had forgotten I had written it and that was my last post until Pcars2 came out. I'm not really a community forum person unless I have an issue. For two years I didn't have an issue because of the work the devs put into post release.
Makes me feel much more confident that issues will be addressed and I'm sure in 6 months time i will be writing about what a great job has been done. I'm now going to try and just focus on the bits I like and be patient.
If someone could remind me of this post when pcars3 comes out, that would be great.
It really just is the AI that's hurting this game for me, because just about EVERYTHING else is great. They operate on a totally different set of rules, are inconsistent in their performance, are either too easy or too hard, can ignore puddles, are artifically slower on straights and have absurd cornering speed. Maybe it gets better later, but that's how it's been in Ginetta Junior and GT5 so far. This is a 7/10 game that could be a 9/10 with decent (not even great, just decent) AI

My main issue with the AI is with the Indycars at Indianapolis. I love the three wide starts, but they can't get through a half a lap cleanly before a big pile up ensues and blocks the whole track.

Great game overall!
Good to see more aggressive AI cars in PC2. However, often AI cars just drive into the back of you now, which is a problem especially in multi-class racing.
Also, AI cars don't seem to work very well on some circuits, like Long Beach, where they can't get round the hairpin very well, usually leading to a blocked track most laps.

They are very slow still of the line, I pass half the field before T1 in every race so far on the settings i chose = AI difficulty 85% agression 50%.
After some 8 hrs in game, I started the same way (AI at 105 and aggression 70)
Managed only 7th place in practice (30') after going into the pits several times to make some adjustments. With some 4' to go I wanted to rejoin track and guess what: a car was standing right before my nose and stayed there for the rest of the session... :blue:
I got only 6th in quali also (mostly because that stupid 50% track limit rule which forced me to slow down each time after Old Hall corner (turn 1).
I really wish SMS would change the track limits. I can perfectly keep two wheels on track all the time, but I CAN NOT see if/when 50% of my car is still on track, impossible... In love Oulton Park, I perfectly know how to take all corners in every sim and now all I learned over the years is worth nothing in pCars2 on this track.
Oh, and getting the 60km/h pit lane message almost each time on start/finish straight was not helping either and worked very distracting.
The race in short:
AI had very bad starts since I was leading even before we reached Cascades. Car #2 managed to take the lead two times after I got a slow down warning for exceeding track limits in - you guessed it - turn 1, but in the end I won and also set the fastest lap time in race
Adding to this the impossibility to keep heat in the tires of the Ginetta, whatever pressure used made this first career race not much of a success.
I should add that I did several quick races with the Ginetta (same AI settings, but car completely stock and starting last from 14 cars). In Zolder I was leading coming in turn 1 and after 8 laps I gained an advantage of 23".
Race in Snetterton (same settings and conditions), I could take the lead right before Wilson (it used to be Montreal but was changed last year, so the actual name in pCars2 is not correct) and stayed in the lead until the finish line, but constantly with some cars on my back, getting very close in Nelson, mostly because I was too cautious for not getting a slow down...
Which shows imo that AI is rather inconsistent. They are mostly nice though, I had no contact at all after all my races. They do show (Ginetta Jr) micro movements left/right most of the time, not looking natural in a straight line. Don't know what the reason for this may be ?
Also, there seems to be some kind of bug that prevents the car settings (position in cockpit view) from being saved. I had to reset them several times, but not always.
Some minor points:
- (as mentioned above) the Montreal corner at Snetterton has been renamed to Wilson (but the road side sigh still shows Montreal)
- pit lane buildings in Zolder have had a totally different paint scheme since two years now, but in game they still show the red CocaCola ads.
- there is no giant bull statue at the Red Bull Ring.
- the fire spitting RadBull monster from pCARS1 now does not produce any flames
- (not so minor) the steering wheel position is offset in several cars which makes it look weird since the dash instruments don't fit my real wheel (I disable the virtual one). Solution is to use Ctrl-K and some other keys (A and E in my case) to move, but sadly that does not get saved either and you have to redo that every time for the affected cars. As I was informed it is a design choice and will sadly stay that way. VR users and controller users are not affected by this though.
- though some cars sound great, some are really bad
- I wish there would be more different sounds that the "I grew up with Senna...." quote. I must have heard that about 200 times by now... :listening_headphone
I got only 6th in quali also (mostly because that stupid 50% track limit rule which forced me to slow down each time after Old Hall corner (turn 1).
Do you keep 50% of the car on the tarmac or on the kerbs?
And did you get penalties for putting more than 50% of the car on the kerbs or do you just avoid them because of Ian's comment?

There has been a sound makeover as far as I know, but what I don’t like is the way the breaking sounds. The squeaking sound of the tires on the tarmac. Everytime you hit the brakes. I’m sure the wheels do not block but I still hear the squeaking sound if I hit the brakes full power. It makes me brake with to less power and thus I kiss the grass to often to my liking.
I’m I the only one in this? I did not experience this with PC1.

I try to keep two wheels on the track at all time (which seems to be the general consensus in my sims, though sometimes you can even be ON the curbs with two wheels). But in doing so I get a slow down penalty in pCars2 (at least in the corner I was referring too).
It is fairly easy to see or even feel if I do or don't have two wheels still on track, but I really can't make out the difference between 50 or 55% (e.g.) being on track.
Sorry, I seem to have missed Ian's comment...could you give me a pointer ?

Here's just a few only minor bugs and things I'd like to get changed/adjusted in a future patch:
1.) Have the pit crew get a bit more polished as sometimes when they change your tires, the animation of the them putting the new tires on the car doesn't seem to look like it happens before they let you go. Maybe they do and they're just super fast. (Is anyone else is experiencing this issue too?)
2.) This one's a bug; When your pit crew has finished on your car and they say you can go, when you accelerate you don't go anywhere and your car just revs. I had to reverse before I was able to drive off again.
3.) Another one (last one I promise) to do with the pit lane. This one's more just a slight change I'd like to be made, is when you go over the entry and exit pit lane lines, would it be possible to make it so your car doesn't flicker? I know it's meant to signal you going in and out of "ghost mode" so you can't run into any other cars while you're in pit lane, it's just a bit immersion breaking that's all.
- Finally, I've noticed a visual bug where in your rear view mirror, the road behind you occasionally flashes white, which is a bit weird.
I can't find any thread on this so I'm posting here in the hope that someone has an answer.

It took me awhile to finish the session but I had a blast with Johnson Racing's setup. Tomorrow, I will be doing Aston Martin in Manufacturer Drives and then move on to Formula Renault 3.5 in Tier 4.

I am a VR user and I've come across a few cars where the motec display isn't in the middle behind the steering wheel. So that's a thing to be looked at..

It will not change I'm afraid. The topic I started about it was closed because this issue seems to be a design choice.
Strange that you are affected. I thought it was only for flat screen users.

Basically I restart every session now in career and check out their pace first. Luckily we have the ability to adjust the AI difficulty from session to session in order to dial them in beforehand, even though it's a bit tedious to do it, it works for now to get that balance right between their pace in quali/race or different weather.
Also the slow starts are a bit of a bummer when you qualified in the front of the grid, you're first by turn 1 pretty much every time even though pace wise the AI sets the same laptimes as you during the rest of the race, so this you can't really fix with bumping up the difficulty. Not sure if this is a general problem across the game as I haven't done single race still and just did the Ginetta career races so far, might be better with other cars or aggression settings?

Right. Ended first part of the Ginetta career now and even in career mode the AI is very inconsistent (at 105%). Sometimes I get an easy pole, sometimes I need to really work for it, once I took last place. But in the end they are slower in the race. Even starting last due to a bad quali, their slow starts result in me taking the lead in the first corner(s). Rain at Knockhill was one of the easiest, quali as well as race.
The first Ginetta invitational was a hard one though... (won't spoil the "fun")... ;)

It was discussed in the WMD forum as well. Unfortunately, those cars are actually built like that, so it's true to reality. The team can't do anything about that. If I remember correctly, the Mercedes C63 and the Acura were some of the offenders.

For VR users that shouldn't be a problem, just a thing to get used to.
For us flatters though it's extremely annoying as we have our wheels misaligned with the in game wheel and there's really no way to fix it when you have a fixed setup.

maybe I didnt set my pit strategy correctly, but it seems daft to go into the pits, have the animation go through the motions, and come out without any change it tyres. or do we need a lollipop man there to stop me from going out too earlier (auto pits anyhow). it also seems daft not to change tyres anyway using a default pit stop change, even if only to the same ones, just not worn to the bone. formulaA career.

Hi, Question to the developers..
In Pcars1 some cars use the LadX for the mesh, still the case for Pcars2? or the all cars use only a Lod a,b,c,d. Because when i checked the Pakfiles\Vehicles folder, i don't see xxx_GUI.bff files (where the the LadX are suppose to be) like in Pcars1.
I want the best 3D mesh for my game. Quality before quantity! And 4K skins would be welcome for high end PC also.
Or once again the console market is more important and the PC game subjected at those crap platforms:mad:

No need for that last sentence...
We run more cars than any of the competition. Complain about something valid please. Closed.
Besides its a pretty valid complain, considering the amount of cars racing in real endurance races and the different experience it generally provides this is completely wrong.
R3E, RF2, AC with mods, besides PCars1 provide far bigger grids.
Hope this is the right thread to ask for this, but I'm wondering, has anything been changed in terms of motion blur in the final version of the game compared to the development builds?
I may be wrong, but looking at the replay below, I get the impression that the motion blur used in this particular dev build looks somewhat different, perhaps smoother and more like an actual TV-camera replay style blur than the one in the release version.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bWIGJ6qEdM
Is there a specific setting to enable this kind of blur? I already turned up motion blur in the graphic settings to the highest, but I'm pretty sure it still looks different.
Don't get me wrong, I'm totally fine with the solution in use now, but seing what eventually has already been used during development made me interested in whether there were some last minute changes to this.

Thanks putting it on high did indeed help
Is it supposed to be that blurry on medium settings? Looks very 'low' to me but then again; I'm not an expert on these things.

It does look very low until you actually set it up as LOW in the settings menu, then Low takes a whole another meaning. haha. Low look's like someone waxed their car with Vaseline
Are the AI affected by mechanical issues this time around? Haven't done any testing yet, though I suspect the answer is no anyway.

Indeed I was racing GT4's online with my buddies last nights and we came to the same conclusion, you'd need to take them all out on the same track to verify it, but from the 3 or so races we did it does seem like the Cayman was more than a second faster a lap than the other cars.

I cannot remember exactly how it was in pC1, but I think LODX was only used for the player's car. All AI cars that you're actually seeing from all sides during gameplay have always been LODA.
As for livery resolution, it's been discussed many times during development. Switching to 4K will even get average gaming PCs into trouble because of GPU memory usage, it's not tied to consoles. So converting all 300+ (!) liveries in the game to 4K resolution will not be of benefit to most or all players, only to those with a high-end GPU. I don't think the ROI is there yet to take on that task.

I share the same thoughts and can definitely hear his frustration with the AI.
I don't want to be sounding like a broken record however its absolutely disgraceful that they released a non-online specific racing game with such a broken AI - as a proper AI is critical to a racing game.
Feels like they made us pay for the privilege of beta testing the game for them...
Have the AI at a competitive level and they wipe themselves out in the first corner. Turn it down so they don't and I'm 'cruising' around the lap at half throttle just so I don't overtake everyone.
Anything else but hotlapping is so frustrating right now
"A lot of work will be done to the AI in the patches over the next 6 months" they say. Well don't friggen release consumer ready product that's not ready for release!

It will take months still to balance the AI out and I would have preferred more time pre launch to fine tune them myself, but seeing there's so much more variables at work with PC2 compared to other games (more tracks, more classes, different weather circumstances and livetrack), it would have probably meant a 2018 release date at the earliest.
And then SMS would have lost a lot of revenue on console with FM7 and GTS slotting in before them, so business wise I understand the decision to release the game now so players can enjoy what does work, and then patch it up later for an extended time.
I do hope this game receives regular patching throughout 2018 at least to get it just right in all areas, as it would be a shame not too with all the potential PC2 has. That rough diamond needs to be polished.

No not really! Just want to be sure than the LODX are still present and than the quality isn't less good than Pcars1 due to the numbers of new cars and tracks. and request to saving more data space by this way.

Anyway, no probs buddy.
I don't know if it's just me but I'm having issues getting heat into the tires of multiple cars. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the Formula C tires need patching. I've also noticed that the Caterham 300 slicks do not seem to be heating up. I dropped the air pressure a lot(to 10 or 11psi) to try and get some heat into them but it doesn't seem to work. It was on a cold Donington track in career. Is it just an issue because of the cold track or is it really an issue?
so is this problem with the pits in all classes or is it limited to certain classes
I have this problem with multiple classes (e.g. Formula X, Formula C, Formula Rookie). I start the race on slicks (I changed setup, because AI choses wets automatically) and create a pit strategy to change tires to wets and activate that strategy (also checked later in ICM). I start a 10 lap race (with a mandatory pitstop and weather changing from light clouds to rain) and come into the pits as soon as track becomes too wet for slick tires (mostly happens around lap 3-4). I drive in the pits, crew is ready with new tires, guys with the wheelgun kneel down, don't change tires, stand up again and car leaves the pits on unchanged slick tires. Race is then over because track has become to slippery for slicks.

for me it was formula A, Ive gone on to formula renault, and at this stage (sans patches that fix some things) I am staying there as it is so goooooddd. havent needed to pit yet (there seems to be no tyre wear with this class - 16 lap races - FA was 60% front wear at around 12 laps ). still have the animation bug, pitting for slicks, they show wets which change to slicks when on the car. funny but buggy.

Single player, Mixed class, driving Ford GT GTE - NO ISSUES!!
Make sure your tire change is set to ALL. If you have it set to "Recommended" (default) the crew may not change the tires if they feel there is enough left on them.

So, as I said above, make sur ehte strategy is set for one of three options as appropriate.... ALL, FRONT, or REAR. Using the defualt of "Recommended" is ironically, NOT recommended.
Hmmm... maybe the difference between "Recommended" and "All" could be the issue here, since I am not sure what setting I did use. But.., "Recommended" for me would also mean that when you are running slick tires and the track is too wet to run them, the tires should be switched to wets on this setting, even if they have not degraded enough yet. The AI has already started on wets (probably because the game knows it is going to rain in a few laps and the wet tires will 'stay alive' for that long). So the recommended tire (for the AI) is already the wet tire. So, does "Recommended" only look at tire degradation and not at changed weather conditions?
I have also encountered another issue with pitstops. I have mapped a button on my G27 to 'Request Pitstop', but it regularly does not work. Sometimes it only works after pressing it several times, sometimes it refuses to work completely. And the button itself is working fine (I use it in other racing games as well, to enable KERS or DRS). The only way for me to request a pitstop in that case is via the ICM.
I will test this further later. First need to go and watch the F1 race in Malaysia. Hopefully Max is more lucky this time!:D

no?
No you can't see this unfortunately. That's one of the things I hope they change in an update.

Put 10L of fuel in and see how far it goes.
Rough example: 10L = 5 laps = 2 laps per L
I bet someone is probably making a spreadsheet for fuel consumption per car, per lap, per track.
Actually that sounds like something Breyzipp would do. He seems to have every aspect of the game neatly organised and planned
I noticed a little thing. Texas Motor Speedway (Oval) and Texas Motor Speedway Road Course do have the same number of curves? (Kurven = curves :p)

Jimmyb had a GT3 strategy calculator going a whole ago for pc1 :)
Fuel consumption numbers have changed though.

Thanks for the fuel info ..... is there any indicators in pits that show race length?

INCORRECT FUJI SPEEDWAY LENGTH
PCars2 has Fuji Speedway as 3.90km when in reality it is 4.55km.

Also, I think Oschersleben A Course and Long Beach may be slightly off too. I know it's a non-issue but my OCD doesn't like it.
FERRARI 330 P4 HEADLIGHTS COMPLETELY POINTLESS
The headlights on the amazing Ferrari 330 P4 may be completely pointless. When driving in-car you cannot see any illumination from them. The tail-lights provide more light amazingly enough.

Known issue, will be solved in the next patch AFAIK.

Thanks you Remco. Good to know.

Or the contrary
F rookie wet tires dont seem to overheat nor get any wear

I really don't care about the fuel calculator, I do that stuff in my head but I really hope they add info about the race at the start of the race session. Just the nature of the way everything is set up, sometimes with just a few minutes of qualifying I miss some details, age could also have something to do with it. But it is hard to know how much fuel to stick in your car if you don't even know how many laps the race will be and there is no way of checking that if for some reason you end up in a session and then realise you don't know the details.

You can overheat them, the conditions need to be very hot. I've had them over 100 Celcius and they were slippery.

well maybe they should be teaked?
I made all my Frookie championship on wet tires because they were way faster than slick and they were not overheating nor got any wear

I wish we could see race details in session as well. Jumping into an online sessions and doing half an hour of practice+qualy or rushing into a lobby to catch it at the last minute can get pretty intense and I find it very easy to forget the details for the actual race (or forget to actually look to begin with...). I find the online in session menus lacking in detials compared to the first game, but it looks leaps and bounds better so at least we have that.

Did you guys have to change your wheel and force feedback settings much on pcars2 from where they were on pcars 1?

FFB is completely different this time around.
There's plenty of threads/posts about it.

Yes and no. It took three or four calibration attempts to get my T150 to turn at the same rate as the wheel on screen. I copied my PC1 settings, and other than tweaking things a little here and there it has the same feel as it did in PC1.

does anybody knows exacly what tyres are the Pirelli P-Zero carving edge?
Hmmm... maybe the difference between "Recommended" and "All" could be the issue here, since I am not sure what setting I did use.

I've done some more tests with the pit strategies and indeed, when you set it to "All" instead of "Recommended", the tires are changed. So when you know there is going to be rain, you will have to use the "All" strategy, because the pit crew thinks it is recommended not to change slick tires on a very wet track.
My other problem with the pitstops still exists. The button I have mapped on my G27 (top right button on the wheel) does not work during the race to request a pitstop. The button is working, since I am also able to map it in the control settings. I even tried to map it to another button during the race, but also that is not working. Or is there another reason why a pit request would not be working during the race?

YES, *redacted* won! :D
Dude...NOT cool! Some of us aren't able to watch the race live, and you just spoiled it for anyone who inadvertently stumbled upon this thread (such as myself).
For the love of all that is racing, at least wait until the day AFTER an event before you go giving out spoilers on a public forum. :chargrined:
Think I've managed to work out pitstops now, although they seem to take forever and I'm not sure the AI take as long? Was leading an Indycar race at Texas super speedway, came into the pits, was static for an eternity then by the time I came out I was 22nd. Managed to make a few of those places back as the others pitted, but had to really work to get back up there. Progress, though - before that I wasn't getting tyres changed, wasn't getting refuelled enough and was constantly getting penalties when I wasn't sure what I'd done wrong. I don't think it's as user friendly as the original in terms of put menus and options, but that won't matter when I'm used to it.
Oval racing.....at times, it's great. When you're sitting trading tenths with a string of cars ahead and behind, having to concentrate to keep it out of the wall, remembering that turn three at Texas is deceptively sharp and needs a harder turn-in....then mid way through the race it goes a bit weird with pitstop strategies I don't quite get (or can't quite mimic), and then these accidents that it's impossible to avoid being given about half a seconds warning to 'stay low'. Hello wall.

sounds like sms have some issues with the pitstops to work out
don't want to start a thread for this but I cant find where to change the AI difficulty , I did it at the beginning but I am having a bit of a brain freeze right now !

I am very sorry about that! The post was 7 hours after the race had finished and I just did not think it through. I was not able to see the race live as well and it is almost impossible not to hear about the results (you will have to keep your tv, phone, tablet and smartwatch off). I have removed the text from my post now. Sorry again and thanks for warning me. It won't happen again.

It career settings at beginning of every event. You can change length of each season and at bottom center and a bit to the he left there is career settings to do the AI.

I think at seven hours after the race, your conscience is clear personally. If he so desperately didn't want to know he shouldn't have been on a motorsport-related forum really.

Apology accepted, it's clear you had no ill intent. I know sometimes we don't think and things slip out, we all do it from time to time. It's hard especially with something like F1 which takes place in so many different time zones...it may be seven hours after the race ended, but that could translate to the beginning of someone else's day elsewhere in the world.
Anyway, no harm done. Moving on.

I think it's best I don't reply with the words that are really going through my head now. Suffice to say, I disagree.
Regardless, I don't want to turn this into a big thing. Feentje and I have said our peace, and I'm happy to leave it at that.

quick race please .
I unlocked the Japanese Street Trophy after winning the FR Euro Championship, but my car just kept sliding left and right on the ice as soon as I applied even gentle acceleration. I had to give up. I also started the Ginetta Cup, but during practice I couldn't even get off the bottom of the timings list, and I'm only on 50% AI difficulty. On PC1 at 50% I was winning most things. I'm looking forward to receiving Forza 7 on Tuesday!
