Hi all.
We're very happy with and appreciative of all of the feedback you are providing. Any and all critique is welcomed and will remain up providing the thread stays civil and doesn't descend into excessive abuse and vitriol.
Threads that do so will be deleted. The team and moderators will not be subjected to unwarranted abuse.
As of now we have around 5 strong issues and 20 minor issues, many of which have already been fixed internally and will arrive in a patch very soon.
For context, it has been our cleanest ship since GTR2 over a decade ago yet it is massively more complex. Therefore we aren't criminals, cheats or highway robbers and we don't need to be reported to [insert favourite agency].
The game is rolling on an 87% average and is growing even on those that distinctly disliked pCARS1.
So please, keep it civil, have fun, don't abuse individuals and let's all enjoy what we have. We will continue to make it better.
I'm bumping this thread as it seems we have some strange "holiday cheer" going on right now on the forum.
It seems forum members are forgetting how to communicate properly on this forum. If you have an issue, ranting and raving is not going to help. Cursing is not an option regardless if that type of language is accepted with your friends or locale.
Moderators are here to keep the forum running, stop conversations which have no actual purpose, enforce forum policies/rules, and in general keep the lights going. You may view the moderators as being impartial, nonpartisan, negative, disinterested, dispassionate, or any of the other synonyms related. The moderators are not employees of SMS, but this is a forum paid for by SMS. As such, they have the right and privilege to dictate in the way they are communicated towards. Just because you have purchased a product from Bandai Namco doesn't give you the right to belittle them for any reason on their own forum. Buying a meal from a restaurant doesn't give you the right to go into the kitchen and yell at the chef (try it, and see how long it takes for you to get escorted out and banned from returning to the restaurant).
Search to see if others are having the same issue. Calm down before posting. Post as much information and/or repro steps of your issue. Do these things and you'll have a much more enjoyable time on this forum.

Guys, have fun and stay civil (as Ian said)! Not many CEOs give end-customers this chance of direct communication. So take good advantage of it.

Can i just say personally that i found this release to be near on trouble free and with minimal fixes required. These really are little fixes and about the only thing i could critique would be some oft he sounds of the cars (Being an avid car racer all my life)
Also i enjoyed that youtube stream you did with the aussie fella the other day as well, gave a really good insight to the team, you and the game.
Anyway good work fellas and maybe see you on the circuit.

I'm surprised you guys don't punch your computers with all the ludicrous comments on here. The game does have several bugs, but I do not believe they outshine the game. This game has so much potential and I am so excited for the future of this series. I must say, I really appreciate you guys being here. I don't know of any other games where we can have this close of contact to the devs. I am very glad we get to do this, and I thank you for offering us this experience. Getting this kind of experience is what makes me feel loyal to this series. Keep rockin' on guys.

I, for my part, promise not to report any of you to my favourite agency. Although I'm really not sure what the Forestry Commission would have to say to you about any of it but I'm a man of my word. There will be no blockade of John Deere Forwarders outside your office.
I also find it to be largely trouble free from the off, but even if I didn't I wouldn't be a d*ck about it and grass you up to the FC.

I can relate to how the devs feel. Its not too different for me as a scientist. You put all this work, effort into something. You believe in it, you love it. Then someone shuts you down for a ludicrous reason. It's infuriating. I'm just happy Mr. Bell has pushed it to the side and continued to do this for the rest of us.

I may report you to another favourite agency though... The Equality Commission! Where is my Scottish flag as a driver choice? ;)

I'd really like to start off my Project CARS 2 experience on a positive note, but some of the issues I've seen repeatedly reported sound like they would frustrate me enough to detract from my overall experience & impressions of the game. I am very interested in buying, but I am anxiously awaiting post-launch patch notes to see what areas get addressed & how soon. Thanks for your responsiveness with the community.

Look, it's rolling on an 87% rating with a few issues. If you're into racing games and sims in particular I, in all humility, think it's the best overall package currently available. Holding off is for wimps. ;) (That's a joke).

No arguments here: the content & features I see look amazing, and tailored to my tastes more than other motorsport games. I can't wait to play it, but most importantly: I want to enjoy it - and I'm afraid my eagerness could take a nasty turn into all-caps internet troll rage if I encountered some of the issues I've seen reported by a number of people on various forums. I understand nothing is perfect, especially on day one, and I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to play it as soon it gets even closer to perfect with some post-launch patching. Thanks!

Then just don't. You can read up the known issues. You can be assured, that SMS takes care of the problems, so no need to stand around at the next intersection holding up a "The end is near"-sign. If you want to wait some more weeks to give it a go, fine. If you are brave and ready to be overwhelmed by racing-joy, insta-buy. It's easy as that. ;)

Excessive abuse and vitriol, pah, this is kindergarten compared to the badlands of lord Kunos. I'm a veteran of 2 tours in the console section over there.

In all seriousness, me and PC2 didn't get off to a smooth start but have found great support in working round a few issues from the peeps on the forum here and I'm loving it now.
Congratulations on an awesome release to all the guys and gals at SMS
Hey Guys, not used this forum before and it might be up somewhere else but I can't find it. Anyone else having issues with their G27 or other wheels suddenly getting heavy 3 minutes into races and not wanting to stay in a straight line. Wondering around and waaaaay over the top feel to it. Using the profiler set up as always and works on all other games no issues whatsoever. Also I get stuttering in full screen and not borderless windowed. Just like the first one. GTX 1080 Ti extreme edition and i7-4790. 16 gb ram. Cheers
Please post your issue in the PC Help section with more details of when/where it happens.

Absolutely this! Sir Kunos of Simulazioni and his knights of the Assetto Corsa really do take the biscuit when it comes to anybody even passing comment on an issue with their simulation software. I'm surprised you lasted two tours over there... I lasted less an hour for daring to question why my wheel was vibrating itself to an early grave whilst the car was perfectly still in the pits.
I'm currently sat in the sun on holiday yet all I can think of is getting back on PC2 as soon as I arrive back, good job guys!

Thanks for the post, Ian. The communication is definitely a step in the right direction. Despite the difficulty some people have in channeling their frustration of the disappointment at a highly anticipated event, that you're here reading and responding and giving us a forum is great.
I'm in the same boat as a few other people: Haven't bought yet, disappointed at a lot of the feedback I'm seeing (PS4), still planning on purchasing including DLC, but need to see where progress takes us. I wasn't an early adopter for Project CARS and know that there was significant evolution there over its lifecycle, and I'm hoping Project CARS 2 does the same!
(Can we get the PCARS2 UDP spec in the meantime? That'll give me something to do while I wait for it to be implemented for consoles... ;) )

I think all these guys working on Project Cars deserve a big aplause! Ive started the first part with a DS4 on PS4 2.5 years ago. I was so impressed by Project Cars 1 (coming from games like GT,Grid and f1) i just had to experience it with a wheel. Now we're 2.5 years and many league races later and my collection has grown to a rig, multiple rims, better pedals, a shifter etc.. So first of all thanks for giving me such a blast (over 1500 hours) on Pcars 1. And to be honest this forum provided me with so much info regarding setups hardware/ leagues etc. i havent seen that much sincere involvement on any other race game forum ever. Theres always someone to answer your question and here your not just a sh*tty console user (like other simrace forums mentioned earlier). Ive only just had like 4 hours on pcars 2 but already loving it! sure theres a few bugs, which 1st week game hasnt? but im confident in the best possible fixes from u guys. Keep up the good work!

Well i'm shiny and new to this forum but not to sim racing as iv'e been at it for over 20 years and i can honestly say im having a ball with this title , Unfortunatly these days we live in a society of people that like to complain no matter what it is some for genuine reasons and then others because that's what they do find fault in something for the sake of it and like to winge and gripe. No game will be perfect on launch and i think we can all agree that this launch has been very promising in terms of feedback and response , So a massive well done to all that help mould and shape this game and i look forward to many laps (Until Project Cars 3 of course) ;) Keep up the good work all !!

Is there a public bug tracker so that we can tell what is known or not before making a new post?
Eventually there will be, once things calm down a bit.

This, with a 10X on the exit line.
In my case, though, I'd like to finish One as HOF before jumping into the sequel. We completists gotta complete. ;)
And I've still got Formulas Gulf through A to finish, as well as the entire Touring section, with a couple of WEC qualifiers to boot. So by the time I'm done, the major fixes will probably be fixed, and some of the DLC will be on its way.
To everything there is a season; my season for Two will come at the right time.

I agree there is a lot of potential in the game and it is ok to feel good with a 87% rating, but that 13% that's causing the frustration hurts a lot.... a lot. I'm on PS4 Pro and had 4 freeze-ups in two days and the start-up + moving between menus (e.g. from free practice complete to quick race) happens at the speed of a Windows 95 computer. Question: Is PS4 / PS4 Pro really suitable to run this game to it's full potential?

I'm having so much fun with pcars2 so much so that I'm seriously getting withdrawal symptoms and during my day at work all I want to do is get home and play, I have been having some great one on one multi player sessions with my friend across the pond and it's been as smooth as butter, not a single hiccup so a great job there.
In terms of visuals I am rather confused as there seems to be a lot of criticism on this and personally speaking I think the visuals are excellent and really show off the capabilities of the engine, yes I have noticed the odd shimmer and screen tear but that does not detract from what is a very solid looking game.
To summarise, I love pcars 2 and I'm finding it a joy to play so a big thank you to Ian and his team

Remove abuse, yes it's done and justified.
Remove criticism (well founded) never.
If you threaten or insult somebody is not "free speech", even though if that somebody is 100% off the place. That's how we do it :) Of course reddit post will state otherwise.
Tbh I don't really see too much abuse on these forums. Of course every now and then it happens but it is always dealt with quickly. That's probably why this is the only game forum I regularly use

Well I suppose I mainly tend to look at the larger ongoing threads unless I have any specific issues I want to sort out. But in the areas I look most often it's often not a significant problem for the majority of the time. I guess the technical support threads and threads disscusing problems that have been encountered might be a bit more hostile but I haven't encountered any issues yet so I haven't looked in that area at all.
I suppose you spend alot more time across the board and as a Mod you inevitably see the abuse more often seeing as you're the one that is often responsible for dealing with it.
Then again my yardstick for comparison is Youtube comments and random people on Twitter that I end up arguing with so my standards for a problematic amount of abuse is probably a litte skewed

Dear Mr Ian Bell, I have been an active member and follower of one of the game's community forums, GTPlanet, over the last 1-2 years since I started back into sim car racing...and now pretty much active/following this one too, the game's parent forum. Just a backdrop, previously I only played GT6 but ever since I bought and started playing Pcars1 about a year ago I lost all interest in playing anything other than Pcars, so impressed was I with the game. My interest peaked even more with the then pending release of Pcars 2. I was like a little kid looking forward to his birthday and present.
Keenly following everything related to the game, it's progress and development to Pcars 2 including the Q&A threads etc, though I may have mentioned it before, I have to say again how thoroughly impressed I was and continue to be with your personal involvement and participation, taking the time in reading through and answering what I consider multitudes of related matter, especially for someone high up like you with very busy schedules. I have noted your keen participation, patience and understanding with us all through. Also so The_American. Personally, I have never seen such personal active participation from developers in community forums by any other of your competitors and I have to tell you it makes a great difference at least to me towards loyalty and customer support. Kudos where kudos due.
About Pcars 2, it's early times still and I know I've expressed some frustration with some issues I've been having on PS4, mainly with Tuning/Edit/Saving setups and also AI, but please know whatever frustration I've expressed is only because I so love the brand/game and look forward to whatever kinks worked out with patches released so I could enjoy it as much as I did Pcars1. I have no doubt that I would and once again would like to thank you (and your staff) for your keen, active participation in our community forums. It is greatly appreciated. Thank you sir and all the best.

As a long time Senior Admin (I'm an 'Olde Pharte') on a Flight Sim forum we rarely have too much trouble as any comments that are out of line collect a one and only 'warning' which if ignored results in a ban, anything between one week up to one year as decided by the Senior Admin group.

What a fine character that was! One of my favourites. Up there with Partridge! Officer Crabtree should have had his own show.
"I was pissing by the door, when I heard two shats. You are holding in your hand a smoking goon; you are clearly the guilty potty."
Genius.

If you're looking for safe swear words, may I suggest the seasonal "jingledarnit"?

There's a basic forum rules thread (http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?51364-Forum-Rules-Please-read) but you won't find any specific info about infractions.
What do you wanna know exactly?

Well I got one last week for swearing which I have no issue with but how long does it stay on my perfect profile for?
10 days
Edit: You can see the expiration date in your profile.
Should be gone after 10 days...

Cheers, I didn't notice that doh!!!
Happy holidays all!

You may need to have 5 post to start a new thread.
Possibly 6 I think it's over 5 for these things
It's just to stop spam accounts which have been a problem recently

Agreed, although I wish the cans would still use those keys. The cans would open around the outside edge, instead of leaving an edge on the inside of the top of the can with those modern pull tabs. The meat just always gets a bit stuck behind it.

Anyway, enough about spam in a can.
Forum spam is an almost uncontrollable thing. Even when you run a little private forum with a bunch of friends, those spam bots and Spammers still seem to be able to find it and cause mischief.
You can install measures against it but that will get bypassed at some point again, and so on. So it is something you always simply have to stay up to date on and on top of as an administrator.

Mods can't implement countermeasures into the forum system itself. Mods can only control posts and ban users on ip and email addresses, at least in basic forum setup.
That said, mods surely are needed to remove whatever spam still manages to seep through. So you guys can't be missed yet. ;)
