They do have a slight roughness to them, it is just a characteristic of the ffb design. However it will be greater if you have the FFB too high and with the right settings shouldn't really notice it too much.
The wheel doesn't need to be ultra heavy, in fact too higher settings will numb the feedback anyway.
Thanks, yes definitely a roughness feel, steering feels smooth when the car is not moving so must just be the ffb.Have reducded the ffb a bit and it does feel a bit better.
The other alternative is the T300RS, which I found to be too squashy and rubbery to feel good with racing cars. The G29 is tighter and a bit more rattly, but comparing them back to back it simulated a rock hard racing suspension better in my imagination. As you say it's due to how the force is transmitted, belts v metal cogwheels.
Ultimately personal preference, and your G29 may well mellow with age and loosen up a bit.
FFB should be at 100%, then adjust the Tire Force to about 75-80% (or whatever feels comfortable).:)
If you open up the telemetry, are you getting a white line?
If so, it's a bug. It shouldn't happend. My G27 also feels notchy when that happends.
Took the wheel back to the shop and got another one, this one feels smoother, hard to describe how notchy the other one was..but I'll try..if you have two cogs that are REALLy tightly meshed then you turn them and you can feel every tooth clicking/grinding and notching together, that's how it felt.Never had a white line with the first wheel but did briefly have a white line with the 2nd wheel last night, then I lowered some car ffb settings and it went away.
Another thing I'd like to ask thats puzzling me is I see lots of post talking about a logitech profiler with extra settings on it,but I didn't seem to get that when I downloaded the drivers. These are the only settings I get Attachment 226159 does it matter?
The G29 uses different/newer software than the G27/G25 (lgs510_x64.exe). You should be good. Glad you got it all sorted now. :)
There isn't a profiler with the G29 (nor with the G920), only the pretty useless LGS software, shown in your picture, which basically allows you to swap buttons. In fact, there isn't even a proper driver for these wheels, which leads them to be recognized by Windows as a generic joystick. This explains why they don't work with most racing games on the PC. The issue has been raised at the Logitech forum at least since September, but the company, strangely enough, has never provided a solution or even an explanation for this glaring oversight.
Thanks guys, steep learning curve with these wheel thingys lol.Well worth it though, can't get over how much more they add to the game.
I think most people would probably quite reasonably think you were an idiot for spending £200 on a toy steering wheel. However I have never heard of a single person who would go back once they have tried it. It's like being a member of a secret society that all share, well, a secret.
My wife thinks I'm an idiot anyway, so it was no big deal for me. I would never be without a proper FFB wheel though.
I could race much better with a pad, I'm quite bad at the moment, but I'm really enjoying driving badly lol
Someone help please!! i got my G29 for Christmas and about a week or 2 later it stuffed up by discotecting on PS4 mode so i did the switch when you start it on PS3 mode then switch to PS4 then back to PS3. just then it just disconnected and im locked out, it just spins loses power at half turn then it just repeats that. someone help please i use it every day
I had the same problem with my g29 tryed everything I could find of the net but in the end I took it back to the shop to change it for another one the only thing I could think it maybe is a broken wire inside.
If you want the wheel to be a lot smoother you can try to use the filtering/smoothing settings in each car's setup menu.. in the FFB tab. There you'll find smoothing for Fx, Fy, Fz and Mz. Put a relatively high value in each and you should have a lot smoother steering.
Also keep in mind that different tires have a very different kind of feel. Slicks are usually a lot more smooth than street cars running the all-weather tires.. and it also heavily depends on how deflated/inflated the tire is. Just for fun try lowering the street cars tire pressures to ridiculously low levels and take a drive. Then set them to maximum pressure and try again. This will give you a good idea of how much of an impact pressure has in absorbing irregularities in the road.
Hello, I think mine involves in this topic too. My wheel feels like it is stoping while I am turning it slowly at the middle zone where there is no FFB. Any advice? When there is ffb no problem but because g29 has a small ffb gap in the middle, I can feel the stop. (INFO: My wheel is 2 years old).
