Question [Official Info Req] Need to delete SaveGame files (= Delete Profile during PC Beta)?

I would kindly ask for some official statemennt on this, as I have the impression that this might solve several issues people are experiencing with the console versions of pCars in general, after updates have been installed.

    Let me elaborate shortly:

    1. During the beta phase it was common to delete the profile (which is the save game file on consoles that contains game progress data, settings, setups, strategies etc) every time a new version was released. All settings etc were lost after that, *but* all strange effects resulting from inconsistent settings were minimized. The first question from the devs when strange behaviour was reported, was "Did you delete your profile?". Very often this solved the adressed issue.

    2. It is a fact, that re-setting input control options (including FFB parameters) is necessary after updates to get the "full package" of improvements/changes. This was never clearly communicated in the patch notes e.g. afaik.

    My question therefore is:

Does it make sense, or even more, is it necessary to delete the save game files on consoles after/before a patch is installed to receive full patch functionality accompanied by a reduced risk of issues to occur?

I was thinking of this for some time now. Here are some recent posts that encouraged me to open this thread finally:

New tire compound names in v3.0 resulting in crashes:

Fanatec GT3 RS V2 working not until SaveGame delete:
    http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/sho...=1#post1085490

I know it is unpopular to tell users that they will loose all their progress etc. I ask myself what could be the lesser evil though...

    p.s.:
I love the title, but I must say that we are loosing support from console racers more and more unfortunately. Mainly because of new bugs introduced after patches and the need to re-tweak FFb. People just want to race mainly. Only few are into repeated fumbling with options. Most of the guys I know would have no problem with deleting their save game files at all if that would reduce their efforts to be able to race like before the update.

I TOTALLY REGRET deleting my saved game data en rebuild ps4 database...OFF COURSE, I can not judge entirely sure...because I don't know what would have happened if I didn't do it.

BUT the excellent FFB feel, without weird wheel pulling, is completely lost...I did a full game delete and redownload+install out of pure desperation... Don't know if it worked yet....

I got rid of wheel pulling to the center (maybe its a different effect than yours, but worth a try imo) yesterday evening by setting SPR and DPR to 100. Had both OFF before with v1.4, then SPR 100 with v2.0 as this gave me a better feeling for the subtle road effects.

I was really frustrated after v3.0 as I was not able to get rid of the pulling by changing ingame FFb parameters.

Yesterday I was talking about that issue with a friend and he mentioned by accident, that he had DPR 100 since v3.0. I would never ever had thought about that, as I assumed I would not need to change wheel settings on the V2.

And guess what: FFb is a blast again. Even better than before the update.

So give it a try. Maybe it helps.

Nevertheless, and taking into account that my issue was V2/driver/game support related, I still have the impression that some issues can be omitted by deleting the profile/savegame after (or maybe before?) updates.

Would be nice if SMS could answer that. A simple Yes/No answer would be sufficent imo

It definitely doesn't hurt IMO. Maybe it's not mandatory (and I haven't done it since release myself) but when I read your latest post here I think it's not a bad idea.

I'd only do it if I had issues with the game. And even then I'd backup my profile and check if it really solves my issue before deleting it.

That's pretty vague though, could we get an official answer also? Would hate to go through the hassle for naught.
Although my FFB works fine, I would like to benefit from adjustments made to FFB which (according to OP) might only surface when deleting the profile.

    Thanks

The official answer is that there's no need for this unless told otherwise:

In your case it'd be sufficiant to reset your controls via the "Reset" button in Options -> Controls

This exactly was my concern, too. I was happy with FFb through the versions tbh and "never touch a running system" is a very true phrase indeed. But every settings re-set ingame was worth it tbh. Re-set, not a savegame delete.

I would definitely *only* delete the savegame, like Bealdor also stated, if I had problems I could not solve by re-setting the controls options and/or re-storing my tweaks that were present before.

I was rather suggesting that some issues (like the ones listed in the OP, I could name more) might be solved by the savegame delete, or even further, by re-installing the game.

But yes, an official statement/short elaboration on those points would be very welcome
