Unhappy Race position changes during race without any obvious reason

    Hi,

just before I had a strange issue while racing in Le Mans. I was on the track and my race position changed from 18 to 35 without even seeing any other car. Nobody has overtaken me and I have not overtaken anyone at all.
When finishing the lap my position changed back to 18. By the way: The change from 18 to 35 did not happen in one step but it increased in steps by one over the time of several seconds.

Has anyone else observed such a behaviour?

    Regards
    Mike

Had 17 AI opponents retired from the race with terminal damage?

If it was online, was there perhaps 17 "ghost cars" that were on the start grid, but not actually driven in the race?

It was offline. I don't understand how retired AI opponents could have such an effect on my race position.

Indeed, that might explain your position improving but not getting worse.

At what part of the track did the positions start changing?

I am not 100% sure, but I think it was when I was on the long straight.

Maybe a Bit more info, you started the race in p18 or were in p18 when you lost 17 positions on the long straight, then you got them all back over the s/f line.

How many AI started the race, how many laps and how many AI finished the race?

Either way it going to be hard to work out why you lost the17 places in the first place before you gained them back.

    1. P18 was the position when I lost the 17 positions.
    2. Yes, I got them all back when I crossed the s/f line. I could observe it as the position in the HUD counted down to P18.
    3. It was more than 50 cars and 10 laps. I don't know how many AIs finished.

    Which track?

There are a few tracks where the trigger points are a little off due to making a compromise between two issues. This can lead to the position counter acting crazy sometimes.
