Yes, you need reprojection to be disabled to capture the real framerate between 45 and 90 fps.
In your example, your max 60fps is misleading, because in reality your game run at 90fps (11.1ms frametime) for 30 frames, then the reprojection kicked in and the game keep running at 45fps (22.2 frametime) for another 30 frames.
It probably could handle 70 or 80 fps, but the projection forced it to run at 45 instead.
This is the good solution when you play, but not for capturing your real performances.

I did some test myself earlier in this thread, mostly to evaluate the impact of some options (windowed/fullscreen, mirrored/vrnomirror) thanks to Vive own logging statistics (a little harder to use but I could get each image frametime).

Ultimately, without any possibility to get stable 90fps most of the time, I settled with a setting which will let me stay above 45 fps at all time (reprojection doing the frame cap for me). As I said, I could bear the framerate under 45fps for long.

I probably should retest if anything has changed since then, and especially if supersampling can be a good alternative to in-game AA (because I can't use both with my specs). I already saw SS won't filter the image the same way but I haven't tested if I can crank up some visual settings thanks to it.

Hello, new user here with GTX 1080 and I'm having a terrible time trying to get the game to perform acceptably.

I've looked through this post but a lot of things confuse me. I don't know what reprojection is, for starters. Well, I know what it is but not how to enable/disable it.

Also, can someone please post their ingame settings for a GTX1080 so that I can start from there ?

Just deleted all the .xml files as mentioned in the 1st post so hopefully sooner or later I can get things working well.

Thanks a lot for your help in advance, everyone !

    George

Game crashes at startup. The game runs for a brief moment after installion and then crashes and will not run at all. Ive tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it and the same thing happens.

Have you installed mods or things like that (I suppose not since you mentioned uninstalling/reinstalling, but it cost nothing to ask ^^).

What are your PC spec's? How are you trying to start the program?

I'm assuming this is a brand new install...

    1. Does it work on a normal screen
    2. Have you run a steam cache check after it crashed
    3. Have you set exceptions in your Antivirus for the Steam install directory, userdata and documents folders

There you go, my xml's with my settings and tweaks, the sharpening filter is at default settings so if you find my setting to be adequate you can start tweaking the sharpening yourself. Use x16 AF with sharpening or trilinear without it IMO and you will get the best results.
