In addition to the Official FAQ this thread will serve as your first source of information about Slightly Mad Studio's latest racing game.

This post will be updated with new info as we deem appropriate. Feel free to discuss or suggest additions.


BASIC INFO

Project CARS 2, what is it?

Project CARS 2 is the second installment in the Project CARS motorsport franchise developed by Slightly Mad Studios in cooperation with 7 full-time real racing drivers, tyre manufacturers such as technical partner Pirelli and the help of the WMD community.

When will the game be released?

Project CARS 2 will be released on September 22, 2017 on PC (Windows), Playstation 4 and XBOX One.

I'm new to racing sims and I don't have a wheel. Is there a way to make this game easier for inexperienced gamepad users?

For gamepad players the game defaults to "Authentic" assists.
If you're having trouble with cars that don't have any you can set this to "All" in the options and activate ABS, Traction Control or Stability Control to your liking.
We recommend to use at least ABS and Traction Control on "Low" for a good experience.
If you're still having trouble you can set those to "High" and also enable Stability Control to improve car control.

Will my wheel be supported on PC/PS4/XBOX One?

Will I be able to import my PCARS 1 profile and/or car setups?

No, both features (profile/stat tracking and car setups) have been reworked and improved which makes them incompatible with their PCARS 1 counterparts.

[PS4/XB1] I just started the game and there's only one car and one track available. How do I unlock the other cars/tracks?

Your game is still installing. As soon as the installation is complete all the content and game modes will be accessible.
(It's possible that you have to restart the game for this)

GAMEPLAY

The "edit car setup" function is missing in the vehicle selection screen. Where can I find it?

Car setup editing is now done "in-session" at the track. Just load the session you want to drive and you'll be able to make your adjustments.

How does the traction control/TC slip setting in car setup work?

With the TC slider you can adjust how much wheel slip is allowed before TC will intervene.
The higher the slip value the less intrusive the TC will be. Lower values are generally safer but can slow you down.

I can't find the Online Championship mode. Where is it?

Online Championship mode will be unlocked in a post release update.

I want to organise multiplayer races or even an online league. Where can I find like minded players on this forum?

Tyre changes in pitstops
Make sure to set the right tyre change for the pitstop in the ICM (In-Car Menu), as 'automatic by weather' tyre choice does not apply to pitstops.


FORCE FEEDBACK AND WHEEL SETUP

How do calibrate my wheel correctly?

Turn your wheel completely to one side (100), confirm, now turn it to 90° rotation. The value that's showing should now be 900 (or whatever steering degree your wheel aloows) or very close to it. Confirm again.

Do you still need a degree in engineering to understand all available FFB options and are vehicle specific FFB settings still part of the car setup?

The FFB menus are much more user friendly now. There are 3 presets available that can be adjusted to your liking via 4 different sliders.
Vehicle specific FFB settings are not part of the car setup anymore.
Some advanced (global) FFB settings can be adjusted via the custom_FFB.txt file located in the Documents/Project CARS 2 folder (PC only).

How does the new FFB widget work?

The bars on the left are a signal histogram in 20% steps. Shows at a quick glance how much of the FFB signal range you are using. The last bar is red and signifies clipped signal (detail lost due to saturation). Seeing too much of the red bar is a sign you should turn down the FFB volume. A histogram heavy on the left two bars means it is safe to increase volume if you want a stronger feel from the FFB.

The G920 defaults to Immersive. Please switch to Informative to mitigate the current FFB issue, until a fix is available.

Will Project Cars 2 require Intel AVX and SSE 4.2?

No, but AVX will be supported and can improve the game's performance.

Changing visual settings doesn't seem to have any effect. What am I doing wrong?

How do I set up TrackIR to work with pC2?

Make sure that the TrackIR software is running. In your Steam library, launch the game in Steam VR mode.

Help, the game doesn't save any settings?

Your anti-virus program is preventing the game from writing anything to disk. Either disable it when running pC2, create an exception for pC2, or switch to another AV program.

Will PSVR be supported?

There are no plans for PSVR to be supported at launch.

Q: How do I reset my graphics settings?

A:

- Close pC2
- (optional) disable steam cloud sync for the game
- Delete "%userprofile%\Documents\Project CARS 2\graphicsconfigdx11.xml"
- Restart pC2.

- In your game library, right click Project CARS 2



- In the properties for Project CARS 2, select the Updates tab and uncheck the "Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for Project CARS 2" check box.

A: Use the NirSoft MonitorInfoView freeware tool. It reads the info directly from your monitor's EDID block.
