    Oculus performance on GTX cards

    Hey there
    I’m just curious to hear about the variance in performance between some of the high end GTX cards.

    I currently have a GTX 1050ti card which although is just below the oculus recommended spec, seems to do a pretty good job.

    I’m looking at upgrading to a 1080. Is it worth it? Should I go all the way and get a 1080ti? Anyone using the new AMD graphics cards?

    FYI my system is fairly high end. Ryzen 1600 overclocked.

    You'll need a Ti version to run most (graphically challenging) games at high settings with SS 1.5 in the Rift. Even then, it will often be borderline, but still good enough to maintain true 90fps most of the time.
    I avoid ASW (fake 90fps) as much as possible, because although it seems like you're getting 90fps with it, your eyes will notice it's not real and that frames are being injected, which will manifest with weird artifacts in scenery that moves a lot.

    I was thinking about upgrading my 980 too, but after doing a bit of research it looks like the next gen cards will be out around Feb next year, so I'll wait for them to future proof myself even more for VR. That's only a few months to wait, which is find by me as my 980 isn't running too bad atm anyway.

    I have no issue running the game in VR with 1.5 Supersampling with a GXT 1080, and most things on high.

    I bit the bullet and went "all-in" with a GTX 1080 ti (Asus ROG Strix Gamer). I have to say that there is a difference in clarity and smoothness, however it's not ground breaking. I previously had a GTX 1050 ti.

    I was about to advise you to wait for the new Volta-based series of cards - the 1160 will probably outperform the 1080ti and be cheaper - but you've already gone and bought it. :{

    I did research the new Volta cards and consider holding off. It was my understanding that the new cards would probably cost more than the current cards, I guess we have to wait to see.

    I just replaced my SLI GTX 1080 setup with a single MSI GTX 1080 Ti Sea Hawk X - and I must say that PC2 runs a LOT better in VR (games in VR does not take advantage of SLI)

    I have turned the Super Sampling to 1.8, and lowered some of the eye candy instead and the game runs beautyful.
