Lightbulb Compared to Project Cars 1: Does Project Cars 2 have a good FFB feel?

Without starting a discussion that in the old days everything used to be better, does Project Cars 2 have a better FFB feel for you?

    If so: in which aspect

If not: what do you miss from Pcars 1?

Haters please buzz off. Only constructive criticism (or not).

Some cars feel decent (better than pars) but some just feel bad imo. Im really hopeful the patch the cars that feel poor.

It has much better FFB IMO. It's more informative, less glitchy and offers splendid information of what is going on with the car. It has the best FFB in sim racing world for me

The wight transfer is there, grip loss feels much better than in pCARS 1, cars feel different, etc.

PCars 1 default vs PCars 2 default - its MUCH better (PC1 default steer gain was set way way way too high)....

Still using Jack Spade's file in PCars 2 - but default is perfectly usable.

Sometimes in PCars 2 I feel too much dampening for my liking but its only for some cars.

The good - weight feeling on cornering especially in high df cars is nicer in pcars 2.

I keep telling myself I prefer the FFB for some cars in Pcars 1 and then when I load it up I quickly prefer PCars 2 again.

A big big improvement is we no longer have the snap oversteer from Pcars 1.

I miss having an FFB file per car as we still have some inconsistency with some cars that you need to fiddle with the volume / tone for individual cars although that is a 20 second job so not a big issue.

There are 4 profiles you can choose. 1 typically for high end wheels, one custom that uses the external file and 2 that are more suited for mid to low end wheels - that includes auto calibrate so you can avoid clipping.

When its right - to me its the best FFB there is - ie Clio Cup / Ginetta GT5 are fantastic FFB imo along with most GT3 / GTE / GTO / GT1 / LMP2 / various road cars.

EDIT: How could I forget Group C cars - bloody brilliant FFB

Also - not sure if this comes under FFB or Physics - but dancing on the edge and just over it is very rewarding - where as in PC1 there really wasnt any control - here you really feel having lost traction and when it comes back - ie Knockhill - Chicane up the top - you can really chuck the car and feel the vertical strain and bunny hops in the car - its fantastic...

This is not a Project Cars circle jerk. So haters please buzz off. Only constructive criticism (or not).
Interesting post. Well I can only offer my subjective view. I think it is better in that it feels better, the cars seem to have a more adjustable physics range to them that can be felt through the ffb and you can feel the edges of grip better and hold the car close to it.
On the flip side, scanned tracks are great, un-scanned tracks are bland, largely because you can't feel the kerbs or any meaningful road surface.
There's obviously loads more but just a few thoughts. Overall it's better but....

I will say though that no other game comes close IMHO

    Better.
I’ve managed to quickly tune it to my liking.

Also because of the new tire model I think it feels way better. Much more driveable. Still have 1 gripe with it’s here if I lose the rear on entry /mid corner with trail braking, sometimes the caster effect is missing so I’m not actually aware the back is sliding. Then by the time I react it’s too late.

    My opinion:

It feels better but the complexity (the effect of the setup on the FFB feel) has been increased. Which is for the real enthousiast a + but for the average sim racer (like me) a bit harder.
Then again: the satisfaction you have when you drive a game time trial record is superb.

Pcars 1: Ended up with a solid FFB after 100's hours of testings(1 & 2)

Pcars 2: Default informative is really good, out of the box! The autotune feature works wonder, most of the time.

It's really easy to calculate. pCars 2 is the clear winner!

In the end, the FFB of pCars1 wasn't a problem, as lots of FFB mechanics are still in place in pCars 2. It was that it lacked some calibrating/fine tuning, per wheel models. The nightmare came with the fact that you had more chance to mess things than to better them. The menus gave access to posibilities that were downright bad.

The best example i can give is that, with the improved physics of pCars 2, the FFB really shine this time around, even if lots of mechanics about the system are the same.

All in all, i think they nailed it well this time! The fine tuning really show up. The best part of it is that it feel natural to drive the car.

The best example i can give is the following:

When i had a beater(Tercel 1998), i was practicing 360s in snowstroms. The transition from the first 180 to the end 180 make or break the maneuver. I was able to do it cleanly 2 or 3 time at most(lots of unsuccesfull attemps, but didn't want to kill the poor lady at her age... memories).

Well, the other night, i was running a FWD road megane in the rain. The assists were disabled and i braked a little too hard. The end started to go around. Without too much thinking, naturaly, i was able to complete the 360(wasn't really gracefull) and resumed my race without a scratch!

It's a shame i can't post a video of it, forgot the save it.

The first few weeks during my transition from PC1 to PC2 was awful, it felt weak and in some cases even nonexistent.

It's nowhere near the level of immersion of Assetto Corsa, but that game looks like something from '07.

Your mileage may vary and you can always improve it with some tweaking and custom profiles.

My taste in force feedback has always been weird, so don't take my word for it.

I probably should have been more clear, it works well, apart from the bugs (which probably is something Logitech should patch through firmware) maybe I bought the wrong wheel to begin with?

    +1
Pc2 feels more intuitive. Combination of the new ffb and the new squishy tires.
