From the time I bought PC2 - even coming from PC1.....It took me 3 weeks of trying different settings and adjustments to make the game drive perfect. it's very rewarding for the OCD individual who goes through tons of settings and laps.....but for the regular person I can totally see how hard and difficult (AND FRUSTRATING) it can be. I tried GTsport on my friends console and it handled pretty good right out of the box....no tuning required.

I'd like a definitive answer... Are there PS4 races going on that you can't see in Online Multiplayer Lobby List?
I understand that rooms ONCE FULL cannot be seen (which is a really bad idea if you don't want to give the impression to your player base that no-one's playing!), but locked and passworded lobbies can. And these, as they fill up, can still be seen.
So, where is everybody..? I rarely see more than 100 players online at any one time, and the VAST majority of those are U level or unrated rooms full of demolition derby kids. Even if they are scheduled, private League rooms, they SHOULD show up in the main lobby until full, right?
you are right... with this .. VAST majority of those are U level or unrated rooms full of demolition derby kids.. And that's the case .. Why those people(kids) even bother to play this game.. and I need to find the way to normal racer who takes this game seriously.. play just private things
Personally, I believe the numbers are down simply because the game is riddled with issues. It had the potential to be amazing, but with its rush to release when still glitchy AF has left players seeking a more reliable gaming experience - ie. GT Sport.
Reliability aside, PCARS2 is the better game, but from the mature sim racers that I have been playing with for years in PCARS1, maybe 50% have stuck around, and the other 50% have bounced to GT-SPORT. They all agree that PCARS2 is a much better experience when it works, but the instabilities and glitches have moved them along.
Hope that slightymad has learned from this and that PCARS3 is more heavily tested before release.
I've written about this many times, but I don't think it is bugs sending people back to GT Sport...
It is just that, on the consoles at least, the game is not set up well to have casual racing. Probably the vast majority of players can't or don't want to get involved in a League, and be forced into when they can play, what car and track they must drive, and all the other BS that floats around in that scene.
But PC2 lacks the basic things that a game needs to gather together whoever is online looking just for a quick race or two in an easy fashion. There are no room titles, so every room is a complete mystery until the green flag drops. GTS can title every room, so 'Clean or Kick' players don't wander into 'Demolition Derby' rooms.
Then PC2 also hides full rooms, and the large number of private rooms. So you go online, the ONLY thing you can see is public rooms waiting to start, or rooms already racing but not full. Which, on PS4, is a bare handful of people. A lot more might be playing, but you'll never know..! GT Sport, you see them ALL... Private rooms, full rooms and rooms looking for players. You never get the impression you are only playing a handful of drivers.
If you want to join a league, dedicate yourself to it every week, practice the chosen cars and tracks and have a couple of evenings you can reserve for the league, PC2 is the best game there is (on console).
But if you get a couple of hours every now and then, no set time, and want to do something cleaner than bash about at Monza and RBR in a GT3 car (so many tracks, so many cars, so few driving them!), PC2 actively goes out of its way to make sure you can't.
But trust me, over at GT Sport, things are no rosier. Sport Mode is another bashfest, their penalty system is a joke, and once you get used to the plethora of tracks, the full time cycle and weather, and gorgeous sound of PC2, it's hard to go back to the Zamboni racing in GTS without a sour taste in your mouth!
There are plenty of players playing this game online yet most open there own lobby rather than look and join someone else hosting the exact same car/track combo then when you actually have some good racing everyone leaves at the end of race to look for another lobby
But you can SEE these rooms until they are full. In fact, rooms at their 16 player limit are VERY few and far between. So the total number playing on PS4 other than one or two full rooms and the invisible private rooms is still a bare handful of players.
Go to online, start counting. Refresh a few times to try and find a full room that lost a few players... I'm having trouble even at weekend daytimes seeing much more than 60-70 players playing. and usually 3-4 rooms with more than ten in them.
Compare this to the roughly 600,000 that play GT Sport per week, usually there are more LOBBIES visible in GTS than there are visible players in PC2. We are vastly outnumbered, and it appears that SMS are completely unconcerned or willing to lift the slightest finger to improve the situation. I'm sorry, but in comparison, there are NOT 'plenty of players playing this game online'. Not by Gran Turismo standards, which is where most (on the PS4) come from.
The search should show full and private lobbies by default with a filter to switch off if you choose.
