[RESOLVED] PC2 stops responding with Vive VR when launching

    Hello,

I need help to get PC2 working again with my Vive VR.

Im playing PC2 for about a month using a playseat F1 chair, Thrustmaster T300 (Ferrari) and a Vive VR set using Steam(VR). Took some time to calibrate it all, but got a playable and enjoyable setup pretty fast. Since last week it suddenly wont start anymore in Vive VR. The moment when the Namco Bandai banner should appear, PC2 stops responding according to my Windows 10.

My monitor flashes one time at the point the banner should appear and directly gets all black - not showing the banner -, and even when I open Taskmanager, the Taskmanagermenu stays on the background. So I needed to put the Taskmanager on a second display in order to End the Process. The Startmenu from Windows is the only thing that still appears from the background to the front at that moment.

The Vive VR headset after starting briefly shows PC2 loading and then - at the moment the Namco Bandai banner would appear - stays all visually black with a white floor being the roomscale area I setup. When I start it without VR, it all works perfectly fine. I did some Windows 10 Updates (the big update) last week, but i don't know if that has to do with anything.

    What have I tried?
    - Check integrity files using the Steam function.
    - Renaming my PC2 user folder with preferences, so it creates a fresh one.
    - Start it directly from Steam (play in VR).
    - Start it manually from Steam with Vive VR-modus.
    - Start it from 'my home' in VR from recent apps.
    - Using commandlines to start it from steam that I googled.
    - Updated my Nvidia drivers (I'm using the 1080Ti Aorus Xtreme).
    - Completely redownloading and reinstalling PC2, which made no difference at all.

    What I noticed:
    - The openvr file is the only one which modifydate changes when I launch the game. I contains ONLY 'Oculus' lines (two chapters) and no Vive lines.
    - It suddenly worked last friday ONE time, so i thought it was fixed. But 10+ tries before that one time it stopped responding and the 100+ times afterwards all stopped responding and never worked a time since.
    - It always stops at a same amount of memory used in the Task Manager, then changing to 'not responding'.
    - It seems to stop resonding when it has to go to full screen, the Vive VR tracker window also reports PC2 not responding from the moment that Namco Bandai should appear.
    - All my other VR games I tried (20+ games), all work perfectly fine. So its only PC2 that started failing.

Anyone have an idea what I can still try to get things going again?

    Thanks for the responses.

Hmm. I don't have a Vive but that statement is curious. Have you tried these launch parameters by any chance? -windowed -borderless

Maybe that will help. Sorry that I don't have any more to contribute.

When starting non-VR it works on normal screen. When starting in VR the normal screen also stays black.

Well, your suggestion is BRILLIANT! When adding "-windowed -borderless" to the launch options it starts again!!!

For science i removed the windowed borderless and then it directly goes back to not responding when heading to full screen. Added it again and it works again. Small note: The Vive VR tracker window or how we call it keeps saying Not Responding after the full screen. But it could be that it had always been doing that, but because it all worked, i didn't notice that. Still strange this all suddenly happened, but i'm very happy with your option so I can play again. Thank you!

    Oculus owner:

I had the exact same thing. I went into the Pcars2 menu and changed windowed to full screen and it worked again.
I think the new windows update messed with ingame resolution and VR.

edit :forgot to mention that I also stopped using oculus beta driver
