Tuning question gt4

Hello , new to this forum and quite new to the game. I have only got about 24hrs game play so far !
I am starting to get into tuning the cars a little bit.
I have been reading lots of guides here and have tried a few things out and seem to be helping me get slightly quicker lap times.
One thing I cannot find anything on really is radiator opening.
I play with some friends and we have damage off and mechanical failures off. My question is , if I close radiator opening completely to get better aero ,will the engine still overheat and get damaged or effect performance ?
My other issue is tyre pressure 🙄 I have been reading that in the gt4 cars hot pressure should be around 26 - 27 psi on hard tyres ?

Yeah so 26-27 is ok.
Yeah closing the radiator will cause problems. On some cars and tracks you will destroy your car in a few laps. With an AMG GT3 closing the radiator has a minimal impact on top speed, with the Nissan the impact is more.
Here is a run at Daytona Tri-Oval, I have Damage Off.

This is a Ford Sierra after 2.25 laps.

Same car radiator at 75%.

With GT4s you can get away with 0 radiator but not all cars.

Small correction to blink, since you have mechanical failures turned off, then you can safely put the radiator to 0%, even if the radio engineer will tell you that engine temps are critical, there will be no engine damage at all. But don't expect a huge difference, this will give you around a couple tenths per lap. Ideal tire pressure for GT3/4 cars in practice is around 25 psi.

Hey, as far as I know the newer cars are ok with a closed radiator. I used to run 10 laps at the Tri-Oval with no performance impact using a closed radiator. Mostly the problems are with the older/classic cars, Sierra, Cobra, Renault Turbo etc. One of the newer cars that will blow is the Mitsubishi.

Here is a Cayman GT4 run at the Tri-Oval. Different cars are more sensitive to Radiator opening. I ran the Cayman at 75%.

Impact is significant for this car so running 0 is a good idea for tracks with longer staights. Over 0.7 slower due to Radiator setting.

No, there will be no impact at all, in fact the "engine damage" icon in your HUD will be grayed out and always at 0% (since you have damage disabled).

Blink, the difference in your case is that you are testing in time trial, and in this mode you cannot disable damage, like the OP has done in his custom races.

Oh, sorry. If I run with the Radiator more open on the old cars I can run more laps so I assumed it was reducing damage. In the Custom races I have run I have always used Damage On with Mechanical Failures and Tire Wear at Authentic. So I guess with everything OFF PCars 2 would be similar to PCars 3.
