Hello members of the PC2 forms, I have recently bought PC2. All my life I was only used to the arcade racing provided to me by NFS. Since I'm fed up of EA and its money milking tactics I promised myself to never buy an EA game. I love playing racing games on my console. There was a sale and I thought maybe I should buy a racing game of a different franchise, so I bought PC2 totally unaware that the game has advanced racing mechanics and that a steering wheel was highly recommended. I am pretty good at arcade racing but PC2 is a whole new world for me. I do not own a steering wheel for gaming neither can afford to buy one at the moment. The effort required to drive any car even at a short distance like for example a 100 yards using the controller was overwhelming. I realized then that the game was not meant to be played using a
controller. Its been a short while now since I have been playing the game. I mostly feel discouraged throughout the race and rarely finish in top 5. I have binge played this for a week so far. I looked up the internet searching for answers and I realized that I was not the only one struggling. Many YouTube tutorial videos state that the default controller configuration is ideal since the latest patch was applied but the car still seems like it answers only to itself. If only there was an option to enable Arcade mode. So if you have faced similar challenges using the Dualshock V4 controller and overcame them, Kindly share the configuration and settings you have used which will help me save my time and also enjoy the playing the game. A setting closer to the arcade racing setting is preferred. Thank You. Cheers!

PC2 is very playable with a pad, and you can get it to be similar to Gran Turismo in handling but with a noticeable extra bit of realism in how it feels. I found these settings

very helpful to get the right level of control to start with.

On PS4 I run with TC/ABS/SC all set to on, but braking/steering assist etc definitely off as it messes up control completely in my experience. I started with the chase view, but I'm more often using the cockpit or helmet view these days. I set helmet off and reduce all the camera movements to about 30 so they are more subtle, but alter it to your own taste.
I'd suggest starting with the Ginetta GT5, preferably on a track you are familiar with, to get the hang of everything, but anything that has more grip than grunt is the way to start.
If you do quick race with AI at about 40-50% starting at the back, you'll get a feel for the lines and braking points, then crank it up from there. All real world racing techniques will pay off, so there are plenty of YouTube channels to help on that score.

Wow thank you so much for the time you have taken to help me. I see that the links you have posted have in depth explanation about the game and its mechanics (Its like i'm taking a course XD), I will try out these settings you have provided and let you know of my improvement. So since you also have used a gamepad/controller, How long did it take to master (Just curious!)?

I also use a controller. Always have, so i'm kinda used to it.
Keep practicing, tweaking controller settings etc, until you find something you're comfortable with. P-Cars 2 is much easier on a pad than the first game was.

Unfortunately I'm blessed with 20th century fingers and thumbs from the analogue age, so I'm not sure my skills will ever be up to that, but I'll give it a go

I'm S1800+ rating, pretty decent wheel skills, but I have a few controller friends faster than me!

However, they share tunes from time to time for me to try and I find them VERY undriveable on a wheel. They are often VERY loose, very quick to rotate, and then there's a LOT of work on the diff to tame the back end once it comes around (this makes it better on the curbs when not using TC).

So all in all, I'd say look up some top controller settings, then try to friend those on controller faster than you and try their tunes. In all honesty, neither stock tune is anywhere near what my fast controller friends use, but either is pretty decent with a wheel.

Apologies for dragging this out of the closet. Since PC1 added tilt motion steering with the DS4, I'm always confused as to whether the poster/replier is discussing using the analog stick or if they are using tilt motion. I want to use tilt motion, but I can't be sure if this is what's being discussed. Given the kindness you showed this user, I feel I can ask if there are any settings using tilt motion on the DS4 for either PC1 or PC2 that you can take the time to share? I'm mostly interested in PC1 since I just recently purchased 1 even though I already own 2. I like the challenge that each presents.

I've not tried tilt steering myself, but it's something that has been discussed over the years, and I think people have had varying experiences, so I guess it's a matter of experimenting to see if it suits you. I've dug out a few responses from the forum to get you going:
