    Isn't P.cars 2 better than rFactor 2 ?

As an overall package, especially taking into consideration price, my opinion is PC2 is better than rF2.

However, for an on-line 24 hour race, rF2 is a much better choice than PC2. It has driver swaps which are essential (hopefully bugs fixed now). It can support more than 32 cars online I believe, useful for Le Mans. It also has a more up to date laser scanned version of Le Mans (at some cost). In terms of car line-up the recent arrival of the Ferrari means they have a pretty good GTE line-up (again, not cheap). The LMP line-up is thinner and missed the flagship LMP1.

For me the interesting thing is they managed to get this event ahead of iRacing, which has the large on-line grids, the laser scanned track, a proven track record of 24 hour on-line racing, a good field of GTEs and LMP1s. Iracing just lacks current LMP2s and 3s I think.

I've heard that every time they have tried to host a large-scale endurance race in the past, it's gone horribly wrong, so it'll be interesting to see if they've fixed it this time around.

What was the drama that unfolded a few days ago? Not sure if I get it. The 24h of Le Mans account issued a statement on Twitter saying that the event organized by ACO should be the only virtual 24h of Le Mans race that weekend and that every other event is misinformation in order to create confusion. Are they thinking they're the first organizers to hold a virtual 24h of Le Mans race?

I’m not sure it is a better game that is needed for endurance racing, but a better internet!

Low global ping and bulletproof package transmission isn’t really in the hands of game developers... maybe Starlink will fix it all, but that’s a hell of a long way off.

You can grab the popcorn and watch rF2 burn down next weekend if they stick to the plan.
There were two 24h Le Mans races in the last two weeks. The first got red flagged two times due to failing driver swaps. The other one was called after a red flag (due to failing driver swaps and massive stutters for some drivers), as the race director (employee of S397 btw), was not able to fix the grid for the restart.

It's a shame, really. rF2 is great in many ways, but it is also flawed as hell in some crucial points. It's always a gamble when doing endurance races with it.

The bugs continue. Alonso gets a drive through as he comes in for a needed pit stop and the game won’t let him do the pitstop first and then the drive through on the next lap.

So he’s out until the live stewards allow him to rejoin after sixty laps of trying to figure it out. He was bumped up to only six laps behind, but even that feels harsh given the pit delta..!

So, just in case anyone felt any game was ready for primetime, another fiasco...

Visually its definitely an improvement over rF2 of old. The cars don't look very natural as they bounce over curbs but with netcode this must be difficult to do well. Having the "real" commentators adds a great deal. The red flag when the server went down (or whatever happened) was handled by them pretty well. The GTE BOP seems poor. Now BOP is always hard but doing it for just one circuit simplifies things in theory and I can't see Ferrari being very impressed. Shame they seem to have opted out of rain.

Still, very brave of Studio 397 to put this on. The pressure must be enormous.

Despite the issues with the game and the servers, the ACO and all involved did an outstanding job. Very professional, Martin Haven surely is one of the best commentators out there, and Allan McNish, you just have to love his accent. All in all it was a great event, rFactor2 really looking good.
