It's going to be next to impossible to deliver the level of title you are asking without having console sales. It's financial suicide to try to produce a title that would cost say 10 million USD in development to a small market of only PC sim racers. Consoles are an essential part of being able to deliver AAA quality titles especially in the small market of sim racing.

I think they were referring to a release on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 rather than consoles in general. Which is understandable, considering the hardware limitations of the last generation of consoles.

Oh so it's like driving in PC3 where the assists are always on then, cheers mate

Get your head out of your house and experience real life and not Google, if you lot had any real world experience with any form of track cars on a racing circuit you'd understand it's not easy or cars are made to be easier for rich old folk... Say that to professional race drivers who still lose it through Eau Rouge and seriously hurt themselves

I'm going to ignore the attitude, but almost every GT and/or endurance series on the planet features a Pro-Am or Am class. Do you know what the Am is? Amateur. What that means is non-professional race drivers. For example, take the GT World Challenge (formerly known as Blancpain GT), of which the prestigious 24 hours of Spa is a part of, which runs GT3 cars. They run both Pro-Am and Am classes which require at least one Bronze level driver as part of the team. Bronze referring to the Bronze level of the FIA's driver categorisation which has the following stipulations.

-Any driver who was over 30 years old when his/her first licence was issued, and who has little
    or no single-seater experience.

-Any driver over 30, previously categorised as Silver, but with no significant results (titles, pole
positions or race wins) and whose performance has been shown to be that of a Bronze driver
    in a monitored series.

-Any driver under 30 years old with a licence issued for the first time during the same year as
their first categorisation and who has not competed in high-level international karting
competitions. Any such drivers will be automatically upgraded to Silver for the following
year, with the exception of any drivers who have competed in fewer than three Events in
their first season and whose times are shown to be of Bronze level.
Do you really think they'd let such amateur level drivers race fast supercar based GT race cars if they could only be driven by a proper professional driver?

Do you also think that manufacturers, knowing that GT cars are first and foremost customer cars, to be bought by teams (usually funded in a large part by their wealthy Am driver, especially if they do not have factory backing) would not make every effort to make their cars as easy as possible to drive, especially for endurance races in which an Am driver could be behind the wheel for several hours?

I am not remotely belittling motorsport by saying this, but the notion that any racing car requires only the most talented individuals to be able to even drive the car, let alone race one is nothing but a romanticised fantasy.

What assists are always on? I look forward to your reasoning and/or proof.

These cars are pretty easy to drive, but they are not easy to drive on the absolute limit like pros can and do.

Anyone can crash any car mate, not sure what your point is there tbh.

Tank621 is correct in that I meant cross gen = both PS4/XBO and PS5/XBSX generations. PS4/XBO have notoriously weak CPUs. Now if PC4 is coming out sooner than we all think, like next year or something - than your point is still true. Thats a very large install base (last gen consoles) to ignore financially speaking, and most developers would never do it. But if Project Cars 4 is a couple or more years away, thats when the true next gen only games start releasing - and I would hope PC4 is one of them. I play on PC, but game design in general can be held back by the lowest common denominator - I can't see them creating an amazing new AI to take advantage of next gen consoles, and then releasing a major dumbed down one for last gen consoles at the same time. Maybe its possible, but might not be time efficient.

At any rate, I am excited for future Project Cars news...and thats a plus, since I was scared there might not even be another Project Cars release at times. Far and away my favorite racing sim series..

Aye, I can agree with not wanting them to release on the older generation. That wouldn't just be dialling things back for the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro but the bog-standard consoles too, which struggle enough with games as it is. I'd think PCARS4 is still at least a couple years off from release at best, I suspect 3-4 years is more accurate than 1 or 2 so here's hoping they look to the future of gaming rather than letting the past generations of hardware hold them back.

I don't think there is much, if any, chance that pC4 will be released for any last gen consoles. The new generation units will be in most console gamers homes by then.

Thankfully, the 'lowest common denominators' are not so low this time, both the Series X and PS5 are very capable platforms.. there may even be mid-gen uprades available by then.

The assists are always on. Please provide evidence to support your claim for a steering wheel.
