Is the 962 LM top speed correct?

I have heard Derek Bell talk about driving the 962 LM down the Mulsanne at 240 mph. I am not sure what year he is referring to or that he could have been referring to the 956. The 1987 962 in PC2 tops out around 230 mph on the old straight without chicanes. Were the various years of the 956-962 during the '80's have different specs that made top speed performance higher then then what we get in PC2?

There's probably a valid technical reason that the modeling may differ. But my cynical self wants to say its an old bench-racing axiom like "the older I get, the faster I was..."
