It's pretty competitive with similar power cars but as with a lot of GT7 there isn't a race against similar cars so I ended up racing against GT4/700pp cars.
I bought the Porsche Carrera too, that one drives nicely out of the box and doesn't seem as tail heavy as the turbo one that you get in the used car lot. Painted mine mucussy mushy pea green and it looks great.

Had a go against Sophy the racing robot and did the four races at Tsukuba. I found in the easier ones you just blast past the AI so you don't see them at work, but then at the top end it's just a question of keeping in front of the AI but if it gets in front forget it. Compared to say AMS2, it's not as enjoyable as it doesn't adjust skill as such, it's just a superhuman in a worse car or if it's the same car it's far better than I am. In AMS2 you can change the AI in 1% increments til it perfectly matches what you want. Still it's 1000x better than standard GT7 AI and very promising for the future.

It's a good update though, I like the way the game keeps getting better and they keep releasing new stuff pretty regularly, so it keeps me playing. I pre ordered and I've definitely had my money's worth and I'm still playing quite regularly.
GT7 needs to add more retro open wheelers, like the variety of old F1/Indycars seen in P-Cars 2. Having stuff like that in GT7 would be great, and this old Honda is a good start.
Now i'd been playing the game with my difficulty set to normal, and the cpu's all morse code the brakes through a corner. (which leads to you running up their ass and losing the coveted clean race bonus..) So i decided to test it on the highest difficulty, and to my surprise, the cpu's would brake and corner normally. But it still wasn't anywhere near the level of Sophy. I've successfully completed most of those races except the 3rd (expert?) one at Trial Mt, (that Corvette is impossible on hards, lol) and the 3rd one at Suzuka. And maybe a 3rd race elsewhere. And i had some clean races against the Sophy cars, which surprised me. Attempted the 1v1 at Suzuka in the Cayman GT4. Had a great start, drove a decent lap and thought i was gonna beat it, until i realised it was a 2 lap race, hahaha. At which point i had a lapse in talent and Violet passed me.
Need to grind some more events for credits to buy the Porsche now..

I think those 70s-80s 911s will always look beautiful. Any car that can look good in mushy peas green has to be a classic. It handles pretty well to say all the weight is in the boot, definitely worth a buy.

Definitely think that there are many beautiful cars in GT7, the 50s-70s race cars especially that just don't have much to occupy them. A 1965 F1 car looks daft racing up against a modern GT car.

And unfortunately, a lot of the classic machinery in GT7 is in the legend dealership, and just ridiculously overpriced. And will only really be seen and appreciated through constant grinding for credits, or by people who throw money at the game.
Have you upgraded your Honda at all? Cause i tried mine, stock, in a 700PP/Gr.4 race, and it felt a bit underpowered.

Nice shot of the Porsche, btw.

Note: I realise i've kinda slacked off with my photo posts in here recently. Largely because A: I've been busy making a batch of liveries for a certain car in the game, which i'll upload when they're all finished. And 3: I've been playing other games. So if anyone else wants to post some of their photos in here so i can have a break for a bit, go for it.

I used the Honda F1 car for the Le Mans 30min race, completely stock except for intermediate tyres. It barely uses any fuel so it could do the whole race without a stop, and it only weighs about 20kg, so it hardly wears the tyres. I just took it steady, kept within 15 sec of the leaders then they all pitted and gave me back a minute on them. You only need to do that race about 3 or 4 times and the car has earned its keep. Not as good on the Tokyo highway one though, just a bit underpowered for that. It's a nice stable little car to drive though, I bet it's fun in PSVR2.
There's a lot of enthusiasm for PSVR2, but I can't help thinking it's the first time driving in VR for a lot of reviewers, who are finding out what some of us have been hooked on since 2015. Good for VR as a whole though, much better than what Facebook have done for it.

Cool, i'll give that Le Mans 1/2H race a go. I've been doing the Gr.4 700pp championship event a few times lately (the 3 race one) using the Alfa 155 DTM. Doesn't pay out THAT much, but it's quicker and easier than the 5 race GT3 c'ship.

Doesn't facebook only do something if it benefits them? Wouldn't count on them to do anything meaningful, hahaha.

Been on a classic Porsche buying spree this week, I already have a tuned version of this one (1981 turbo) but I thought it would make a nice dirt track toy. And it does. Didn't make the livery, just one of the many amazing community ones.

Nice. I did up a classic rally car and re-created the livery for it not too long ago. I'll get some photos of it to pop in here when i can.

Have you found a good dirt setup, by any chance? Default rally car setup is far too hard and springy, so i've softened my Fiesta quite a bit to eliminate the unwanted bounces. But now the car feels too vague and doesn't want to corner. I don't want to stiffen it too much, but.. I'm not sure what else to try. And not having a massive amount of knowledge about dirt/off-road setups doesn't help either.

How do you feel about playing photographer for a little bit?

The dirt setup is an interesting one, I usually start by raising the ride height whilst keeping the suspension fairly stock then trying to get a feel of what the car wants to do. I built up the Toyota Celica ST205 street car like that and it was pretty understeery, so I sent the brake balance rearwards and split the torque for a more RWD feel and it worked well. Thing is, rally in GT7 is good in parts, but has some serious physics flaws, mainly the way the tyres don't dig into the dirt when going sideways, they just skate across without any bite. So after a point, there's nothing much more you can do other than adapt the driving style to suit the game physics. I actually love the rally tracks in GT7 just for hotlapping alone, I really enjoy the wide sweeping courses that you can experiment with lines and shave off small bits of time every lap. I wish there were tracks more like that in other rally sims tbh.

The 911 turbo was great out of the box with only increased ride height and a little ballast to even out the weight distribution. If I was a billionaire I would have my own rally stage and mess about with classic rally cars on it, but GT7 does a decent job of letting me act out that fantasy.

I've only ever taken the two or three screenshots I've posted in this thread, so it's probably about time I explored that part of the game more, I'll do a turn at photography duties.

Yeah, GT does a lot of things well, but dirt/off-road stuff still needs a bit of work, i'd say. I'd kinda like to see a point to point rally stage in a GT game, with a navigator calling notes for you.
    I'll try your suggestions, thanks.

Cool, thanks. Looking forward to seeing what you can come up with. I only asked cause no one else had offered, haha.

Here's my classic rally car, btw. Made the livery myself using some reference images i found.

Ferrari 308 GTB in the Entremont livery. A lot of the sponsors i had to source online and upload. The Entremont logo text was really difficult to find a clean, useable graphic, and i had to clean it up a fair bit in Inkscape. Doing the stripes properly was also tough, due to some odd texture mapping decisions by PD. Licence plate is a custom graphic i did up in Photoshop. I even matched the power & weight to the real car after finding a list of specs online.

So a few posts back i mentioned i'd been busy working on a batch of liveries. Here's just 3 of the 6 i've made.

Car's a good fit for them. (That's actually one of my many drift cars)
I've also made United Airlines, Air Canada and Air New Zealand. Those 6 liveries have been publicly uploaded in game for people to use. And i made a Qantas one for myself, and a personalised KLM one for a Dutch friend of mine.
I'll pop some shots of all 6 on the new forum, once i sort some things out.
